This morning I was elated because I got results urine results back on my cat. My 13 year old cat hasn't had blood tests for years so I was worried about the fact that recently he has been drinking more water. But his tests were absolutely perfect. Presumably ruling out some nasty diseases, kidney failure and diabetes.
But then I had my storm door installer come out and he was ... bad. Just let me go... I need to spew. 1. he was an hour late. 2. I could tell right off the bat he didn't seem to know anything about installing doors. 3. After two hours, TWO HOURS, of banging and drilling the door wasn't up yet. 4. He informed me he wanted to quit and leave my door without a storm door, and not come back for weeks. 5. I said, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO. 6. He spent another two hours fiddling and drilling etc. 7. Bottom line, door is in, but there is damage to my door way and it is missing some parts which now I will have to hunt down. What bothered me the most was that it took him 4 hours to install the door. I actually went to a contractor that said they did these things... I never expected to have such a bad time of it. I don't like the door and I don't think it is correctly installed and I am probably just going to have to live with it. |

Oh, Emily.....
About the cat - GREAT. About the contractor: &%#$&***$%!!!!! Bad contractors are THE WORST!!!!! I totally feel your pain. But maybe it'll be all right after all and the door will actually work. Let us hope so. |

So far I see two problems I don't now if I will be able to fix. The door doesn't open to a 90 degree angle. On the one hand that might work because I know we have problems with the door swinging open and hitting the railing. So this would stop that. But on the other, if I need to get something large in my house it will be a problem. I will have to experiment and perhaps hire someone to come out and fix it. |

Glad the kitty is doing OK!
As for the contractor, ugh. I'm sorry. I know, you mentioned in the other post, that it's hard to find good contractors. I wish there were an easy answer! It seems unfair to have to pay when they don't actually do the job correctly, and you have to pay someone else to fix what they broke. I was thinking about you last week (when I was having the air conditioner replaced and a new dishwasher installed - lots of house stuff). The contractor who did the AC... I was very grateful, as he worked hard (and came back on Saturday, a day off for him) to get it running. That was great... but he got some dirt on my thermostat, and decided that the best way to clean it was... by spitting on his shirt, and using that to wipe it off. Oyyyy.... I didn't know what to say. I tried to tell him, "don't worry, I can get that", but... he was determined to "clean" it. (I used cleaning products after, obviously). Nice guy, and like I said, I very much appreciated that he worked so hard to try to get everything back up and running for me, because I'm sensitive to the heat. But, I could have done without that! Dishwasher is finally working. Last person has to come tomorrow to pick up the old one. The electrician told me he'd have people there monday, sometime between 4-5pm. I told him that I have a work call from 3-4, but that should be fine... he said, "don't worry, they'll be there at 4." So, imagine my surprise when there's a knocking on my door at noon! And, I'm actually on another call for work. Thank goodness that I wasn't still in pajamas, but... I did have my hair piled up on top of my hair, and was in gym shorts, with dirty dishes in the sink (I was planning on cleaning up a bit at lunch). I know, it could have been worse! And, I'm glad they got the last of it all fixed up. But, having people in my house stresses me out so much, so it's been a stressful couple of weeks. Good luck with the door. I hope you can figure out how to get it fixed. It's crazy that they said they have experience with installing them, but then didn't know what they were doing. Was the guy who came out the owner? I wonder if you should call the company back, and tell them what a bad job that guy did. Maybe they can send someone else, for free, to fix it? |

I gave them a bad yelp review. Actually when I went there there was another bad yelp review from the day before so perhaps this person was just stinking up the place. ewwww about the contractor using his saliva to clean. At one point in my life I wanted to be a house flipper but I just can't find contractors that are good quality. I can't even find that with my condo (that I am on the board for). We are doing a project with a contractor and he turns out to be a friend of my sister (he worked for her when she was a bank manager) and STILL things have to be repaired and he has gone over on the budget. |
