Well the day is here. My daughter's sweet 16. We have to be at the hall by 4 and party starts at 6. I am only getting three things catered. I am cooking the rest, as well as my mom and mother in law.
I am frying 40lbs of fried chicken this morning and making two huge trays of mac and cheese. My mother in law got the candles for the candle lighting ceremony and the party favors. She has an 80's/ rock and roll theme so the centerpieces are made out of cassette tapes and records are going to be stuck to the wall. The hall is just our community center. It was very affordable. My daughter went to 4 sweet 16's this year and some of these girls had mini-proms. Gowns and halls that weddings take place in. I'd rather spend my money on a DJ and good food. The DJ is really nice. He totally gets her eclectic choices in music. He has all the specific music she wants and will take requests. I am nervous because I have only two hours to set everything up and decorate. And I have to run home and change. There was a helium shortage so I could only order 12 balloons at a time for party city. They said it was per person, per event. So I sent my brother in to order 12 more the following week and I gave him my receipt to pick up both. I really hope they do not give him crap about it because they are paid for already. My mom is picking up the cupcakes and I pre-paid for the food. I have paid the DJ a little at a time and only have a small balance to pay today. For once in my life I was organized. I started planning this 2 months ago. I think its literally the first time I am not trying to do everything the night before. Granted I have a lot to do today but its a normal, expected amount- not everything because I procrastinated. She is only having 14 friends and the rest is family. We have about 50 people. If anyone can think of something I would need that I might be forgetting please share. Thanks and wish me luck! __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" President of the no F's given society. |
