What advice would you give to your younger self?
Example: Dear younger self, What happened to you was not your fault. The negative things that were taught to you may have been wrong or abusive, but you can always learn how to live a healthier life. There's so much to enjoy in life, still. Never, ever give up! You are good enough just being you. You can still dream and pursue those dreams, and sometimes those dreams will change. You can always ask for help with pursuing your dreams. Hearing "no" is not always a bad thing; sometimes those answers protect us, guide us, or show us who is there to support us and who isn't. And even if you didn't have fun in your earlier life, you can always have fun now. There are many things in life that are fun, depending on what you like to do. If you like roller coasters, there are amusement parks to see. If you like petting or riding animals, there's always the petting zoo or horse riding. If you are interested in the circus, there are some circuses that still exist. If you like board games with friends, that can be arranged or requested. If you like artwork and listening to music, then that can be arranged, too. Having fun helps to bring out your creativity, and with getting your mind off of all the bad stuff. You are good enough just being you. I accept you, and I learn from you. I hope you can learn from me, too. There's always room for second chances in life. You are not your past. You are good enough just being you and being alive. |

Dear younger self,
Cherish you loved ones. I know it seems like right now you can't wait to be away from them but soon and for the rest of your life they will be gone. So cherish every day with them. Learn to make new good friends when you are young. Despite how movies would make it seem there aren't plenty of great new friends to meet in your 30s. Make them now, keep them now, when it comes to good friends there aren't plenty of fish in the sea. Get a husband now when you are young. See above. As you get older the opportunities and the good ones go away. Fine a good one now. Keep them. Best, Older self.. PS... candy and you do not mix. PPS.. buy apple stock right now. |

Don't work so hard. Have more fun. Life is short. It will be over before you know it. Have fun.

Time-travel to the 21st century when there are SSRIs and other meds to help with the psychological effects of your physical conditions, and doctors who can put names to them and help you deal with them, including learning that it's not your "fault."

Advice to self: Having discovered my daughter's innate survival strategy, I would have employed a bodyguard for her sooner. Taken out shares in Microsoft. |

I like everyone's advice to your younger selves! Some of you are really creative with buying stocks in apple or microsoft, or time traveling. I laughed at those, but seriously, so true and way helpful! ((I hope it was okay to laugh.))
Reading all of these touched my heart. |

Dear younger self:
Nobody's perfect--including you--and so let off a little bit because you don't need to set the bar so high. |

Dear younger self,
Set aside time each day to study, because it is your job now and can get you ahead in life. Also, try to think before you speak. And listen to your parents, because they do know better than you at this point in your life. |

I'd teach myself how to handle bullies and give myself the validation my parents never did.

Go to med school or join the Marine Corps instead of partying, chasing skirts, and focusing on "making money".

Dear younger self(ves),
Sleep is a good thing, not meant to be a scary thing. In time, with safer environments, you will be able to relax and sleep safely. (((safe hugs for all parts of me))) |

Work extra hard on your school studies so you can qualify your exams to later become a professional. Please consider becoming a doctor because there are never enough GPs and medical staff to cover the UK population. For this, the subjects you need are: Organic chemistry, general chemistry, biology, English, physics, sociology, psychology, math and calculus. All those will be included in your undergraduate coursework.
Cease all your social networking to buckle down and graft hard to get the highest grades, during which you may lose your friends because you'll be too tired to socialise. Because to become a professional, your path is never going to be easy. Except there are great benefits. |

Becoming a physician is also a massive sacrifice. Go in with your eyes wide open. Your friends will be traveling and getting married and having kids and going to parties and you will be in the hospital at 3 in the morning. You cannot get those years back. If I had to do it over again, I would go to business school.

This morning I was only telling a friend in a pm that because of often long working hours, one never gets to make friends because of tiredness and overwork. Only unless I'm on vacation can I drink alcohol because I'm a driver and next day, will be using my vehicle. I've missed weddings, parties and even Christmas. It shouldn't be that I often work minimum 60 hours a week, but realistically it can be 70 with barely Sunday off, worse if my colleagues are off sick. Often I get called out to an accident, mostly in the middle of the night, almost always the weather is pissing down, or a raging gale or both. Sometimes I ask myself why I do this job, being a GP. The answer is always this: It's my calling to be a doctor. |

Learn to cook and cook properly instead of being outdone by my bright and often cheeky 11 year old daugher whose cooking expertise puts mine in deep shade.

To myself as a 10-year-old boy. The world is a strange place, sometimes spooky sometimes fun. Lots can be done and plenty of questions to be asked. Whatever is to be, you can be sure you will do your best. Once your best is done, you will grow wise to your years and find content. Once contentment is found, you will have the answer to the ultimate question.
