What do you do when you feel left out, excluded?

Burrow down with a good book. Reading takes our minds off our troubles and we can find solace and enjoyment where the author takes us.
Nevermind about those who reject us. Surely with time the right people come along, and they will if we're patient. |

Depends on the situation. At work, where I'm surrounded by queen Bs I blow it off and remind myself these are not people I want to spend time with. If it's friends, I'll ask them what's going on.

Sometimes, however, I go online to a place and feel that no one is listening. Everyone is posting but no one is listening. This thread, however, seems like people are listening and responding. Thank you all for that. I feel left out, excluded, most of the time these days. and helpless to change that. |

I was abandoned and excommunicated by nearly all my family and nearly all my friends when I became psychotic and did something crazy. I guess I could focus on the discrimination and injustice of all that. But I don't. I instead focus on the people in my life who do support me. Like those here on PC. As I have said elsewhere before, what other people think about me is actually none of my business. So, most of the time, I just don't worry about it. That's their thing. I've got my thing.

Honestly, I handle it poorly. Usually it gets into my head it brings be back to the little girl who didnt feel good enough for even my dad to really care about me. Usually U tumble down my black whole and often turn to alcohol. I push other people in my life away. Fortunately it doesn't, usually, last long because then somebody who is important in my life reminds me that I am good enough.

I tend to stay where I was left -- out.
Maybe this goes back to childhood when we were all taught that if you get left behind in a public place -- store, etc. -- stay where you were left. Let them come find you. |

I didn’t really feel excluded at work today because it was the manager who told me where to work so I had no choice but to work alone but when I got in the car I said to my mom “I want to quit everyone hates me” even though I know that isn’t true. I talked to my therapist and she helped me deal with my emotions about work today. And work wasn’t even the worst or the most stressful event of my day.

It feels like rejection and it hurts. I think that’s a completely normal human response. When this happens to me I try to find new groups of people or come here to PC.
