What is a Christmas present you would hate to get?

For me it would be a gift card to the place I work at. There’s not a bunch there I want to begin with and my employee discount is pretty bad too.

But I mean, everyone is trying in my family so I’ll appreciate whatever.

I got a sewing box. But it wasn't just a sewing box... it had stains on the inside so it was obviously used.

Not to mention I don't sew at all. So it was basically a box. A used box.

Just anything not me and/or the person giving the present acting like now wear it all the time and don’t you love it. This never happens though and usually when receive a present people are understanding and mention return it if dislike it.

This year I don’t care if receive any presents, want a less stressful job I can be successful at, more friends and want a boyfriend or someone nice to date sometimes. Want things money can’t buy I suppose.

I once got a fur scarf from my Aunt. I appreciated the sentiment but I'd never wear fur.

A pink tutu. Especially if they ever expected me to wear it. No wait a tarantula yes that would be worse than a pink tutu.

Always discreet underwear...I really didn’t need them at all but 2 year down the line I did. I kept them in my cupboard.

Or when I was a kid I was given a large box of garbage bags.

Ugh, I remember once my ex's sister gave me a baseball hat, with my name on it, and the name was mispelled! Even if it was spelled right, I can't see wanting to walk around with my name on my head!

My sister is an emotional abuser, and an extremely nasty passive-aggressive type of person. So she took the opportunity a number of times to get me NOTHING for Christmas, and claim that it was because she had just doled-out so much cash for my birthday, which is also in December.

She also got me ugly second-hand Christmas sweaters and cheap, cheap scratchy, ugly blankets and throws on occasion. No matter what it was, she would carry on endlessly about how much "trouble" she had gone to, to get me just the right thing. But she clearly had not!

That was always a very hurtful situation. It was always a way for her to make me look like a fool.

She was not a gracious person. I no longer have anything to do with her.

I’d also hate a Krispie Kreme gift card. The last time I had something from there it made me so sick that I am actually scared to eat there because I don’t ever want to feel like that again.

The worst gift I've ever received was a spiral bound daytimer advertising my step sister's real estate business. And she didn't even bother to wrap it, so clearly I was an afterthought.

I really don't care what I get for Christmas. In my place, anything would be welcome. I'll get a gift certificate to my favourite yarn store from my BFF which I love. She does that every year. My brother will send me money which I badly need, but it feels like he's not making much of an effort.

The worst Christmas gift is one that isn't appreciated. Now, I've heard some stories about how people purposefully give gifts that goes against the receivers beliefs or lifestyle, but I've never had that happen. The worst Christmas gift to me is that I try so hard to give good gifts and they aren't appreciated.

Hasn't happened recently due to wish lists!

Have seen some though. One year sis-in-law received a home knitted "shrug" from her mother. Colours were a local soccer team; not even the one she supported!!

My ex-fiancé gave me a toaster one year. And I knew he was going to give it. Another reason he’s my ex!

The worst gift I've ever received was more or less the same one, year after year for a couple of decades.

My dear mother-in-law's favorite color was yellow, a soft buttery yellow. Every Christmas she gave me a new outfit, a skirt, sweater, and sometimes scarf in her favorite color...yellow. Believe me, I was deeply appreciative of the gift, because I loved her.

If, however, there is one color that looks ghastly on me, that color would be yellow. I mean, it looks corpse-like with my pale skin tone. Year after year after year. My pretty new outfit in *sigh* yellow.

I would always return the clothes and choose something I would really use. The sad part of it was that everything would be on sale after Christmas so I would receive much less in cash or store credit than my MIL had originally spent.

She's been gone for some years now. I miss her...but I don't miss those yellow clothes.

Any gift that neeeds batteries, but lacks them. This would be a serious lack of thoughtfulness by the giver, and would not receive a Thank-you letter.
