I am married and have never cared about New Years. This year we took a trip to Harbor Freight to get a car stethoscope so my husband could listen to the noise my car made. Then we watched "Joker" and then CNN coverage for the ball dropping. My husband went to pick up my 16 year old from a party and by the time he got home I was out like a light in the recliner.

What did you actually end up doing on New Year's Eve?

I ended up half-reading then falling asleep with the book in my hand. My daughter had her best friend round, and they saw the new year in.

One of our local tv stations showed a Twighlight Zone marathon. I had a raging case of insomnia and watched TZ most of the night.

My husband and I had dinner at our favorite local Mexican restaurant, went to the theater and watched Jumanji 2, got ice cream, and then came home and watched the ball drop in Times Square on TV. My kidney is still bothering me, so I was in a fair amount of pain, but it was nice of him to plan something so I tried to enjoy it.

I was sick, and also I had to work early the next day, so I was in bed most of the night, but I got up around 11:40 to watch the local news.

It was a quiet night in, with movies and tasty left-overs, snacks, and white wine. Husband dropped off early, so I snuggled with my girl kitty and and watched some shows I had recorded.

What did you actually end up doing on New Year's Eve?

You guys are so cute! Hello from the Midwest!

All I did was binge watch Sex and the City on E! all night until I fell asleep. Never was into NYE that much. It's overrated.

Went to bed early and slept until after midnight. Received some texts and called my sister L to wish her a happy new year. Then back to bed. So exciting, I know!

Had nice food and good company but my friend and I got really, really smashed, falling down drunk and continued through new years day. 2020 really needs to be a year of sobriety for me.

Went out to eat and had planned on seeing a late movie but ate too much and didn’t want to move. Ended up drinking champagne and watching the ball drop on TV while reading a good novel. Finally went to bed at 3:30.

My wife and I just got hulu and she is obsessed with "Love Island". It is the most unintelligent, trashiest show on the planet - my wife loves it. I would rather watch The Real Housewives. She binged that while I was on the couch drinking Guinness. She goes to sleep really early, so I just went down to my space and worked for a couple hours, tuned into see the ball drop on tv and turned it off right after. Stayed up a couple more hours and went to bed.

New Year's Eve is the last night I would ever want to go out. I am an old man now, though.

Watched some mindless TV and stayed inside sober.

It was quite quiet, I spent it with my parents. I was invited to my Sister's she was having a small party from 7pm onwards on Hogmanay (New Year's Eve). I said I would walk to her house after the bells (after 12am). I'm quite a traditionalist when it comes to this sort of thing. I spend every Hogmanay at my parents house and then see the bells in with them. In Scotland we call midnight on Hogmanay the bells. When the bells ring a tall dark handsome stranger is meant to come to your front door to bring in the new year with a lump of coal. We have a lump of coal that we reuse every year since I can remember I'm in my 30's. My Dad no longer has dark hair lol but we still do this tradition. We have a drink and nibbles and stay up until 2am if not longer. My Mum was bedded by 12:30am she was shattered. My Dad lasted until 1am and I was up until 3am.

There are lots of programmes on the tv that are very traditional ie we have certain sketch shows on the Scottish tv stations that mean something to us all. They are the same every year just different sketches plus you have live from Edinburgh Hogmanay street party which is huge over here.

This year I stayed with my parents and then that was it really we had drinks and nibbles and laughed. Called family up to wish them a happy new year then everyone went to bed.

Normally I'm psyching myself up for my own tradition of "dooking" in the river on New Years Day. Its freezing water I run into then "dook" (drop) myself in the water head to toe. I do it for a local charity. This year I chose not to do it so it was very strange not psyching myself up for this.

I did first foot my parents though (another Scottish tradition of bringing something like food or drink into the house your visiting for the first time in the new year. In my family we do this throughout January. We take to the house food like shortbread, the persons your visiting favourite drink or a calender with a Scottish theme on it like scenery). We tend to be wishing people a happy new year all through January lol

My older friend (Daddy) owns a local bar. At 11:45, I went and had one drink, rang in the new year, and went home and watched a movie with my husband. I bet I wasn't there a full half hour

I spent it with my parents, and heard fireworks throughout the neighborhood, none of which were set off by me or my family members.

I kind of think New Year's is overrated?

But it's ok.
