I ate a big bowl of steamed broccoli. So the intermittent fasting is kind of messed up. But I’m still under my 1,280 calorie goal and I feel healthy and I am full.

@WastingAsparagus wow you can run for 40 minutes? You're my role model 😊 I've downloaded couch to 5k app. Will start tomorrow as that's my cardio day. Still running for 1-2 min makes me feel like I'm going to die. 😂😂😂

@zapatoes your walk was surely very nice and your dog is lucky to have such a long walk😊
I was ill last week and spent 3 days in bed but felt better yesterday and walked too. It was pleasant to see the sun after being indoors so long.

I ate healthy foods this morning and did some housework for activity. I feel like it's a good way to start off on a Monday. I may try to walk later.

Omg today's workout almost killed me 😂😂😂 I've never exercised like this in my life. I just hope I'll lose weight, too. First week i gained 1kg from overeating (my coach increased my calories). Now my weight went down a little so i hope the downward trend continues.

I have to get off my birth control so hopefully I’ll lose the 16 pounds I gained from it.

@seeker33

Just make sure to start out small and make it a goal you can stick to for a while!

I ate 2 servings of cereal, an iced tea, half a cauliflower crust pizza, an ice cream bar, some firecracker shrimp from Panda Express, and a thing of microwavable mashed potatoes and I’m only at 1,155 calories for the day. I’m just going to leave it at that and hope the scale moves tomorrow.

Update on my body recomposition. Still eating about 2000 calories a day, over 2000 on my strength training days. First week gained 1, 5kg (but i had flu and was in bed for 3 days). Last week it went down 300g. I'm technically heavier than when i began but I've lost almost 2cm from my waist and also 2cm from my hips. I'm still worried about the scale but i try to remind myself that it's not objective. Still i have to weigh myself daily... When i began working with the coach i said i wouldn't because i knew there wouldn't be any weight loss in the beginning. But it's impossible to resist.

This is part of my meditation strategy.

First, I dwell on a quote belonging to a literary author or well-known person. It can be anything providing the words are uplifting, magnifying the soul.

Example: 'Jewel-like immortal does not boast of its length of years, but of the scintillating point of its moment. The child ever dwells in the mystery of ageless time, unobscured by the dust of history.'

-Fireflies, excerpt, Rabindranath Tagore, 1861-1941, India.

Then I enter my area of meditation.

Feel the cold breeze on your skin.

Listen to the voices, the leaves, the birds in the trees and the cars in the distance.

I listen.

The people, their sounds, the sun streaming through the leaves - everything slowly comes into focus.

I begin to relax: First, my mind, then my body.

Inside, a calmness sweeps over me, and I feel ready to face the day.

I've realized that my meds are also making me groggy throughout the day and making me a couch potato. I've noticed that moving around more helps clear out my head so I'm going to try to start doing yoga in the mornings starting today.

So I did the yoga (it felt really good). I followed along with a Yoga DVD I've got for people over 50.

I live in a community for people with mental illness and have to have at least one meal a day in the dining hall but the others I can cook myself. They don't serve up a lot of variety with the veggies, so I am going to get back to making my own. For lunch, I just had a crab cake sandwich with plantain chips, cauliflower, and spinach salad on the side. Dessert was two mandarin oranges--they're the little ones. (And I measured out all my portions.) If they don't serve a good vegetable at dinner tonight in the dining hall, I'll make one for myself after dinner, like kale or spinach.

I'm also going to get back to keeping a food diary. I was very good about using one before the Zyprexa and now I know why I stopped using one--the grogginess has been making me too lazy to do it. I even had a food diary for my dog to track the veggies I mixed into her food each day and I haven't been doing that either. I'll get back to doing these this week.

@Ceara1010 it's great to hear about your meal plans! Eating veggies is one of the best things you can do. I'm sure you'll feel better soon, when you combine healthy meals and yoga 😊 please let us know how it's going!

One of the greatest slow-burn breakfasts is a large bowl of cooked porridge oats, a little milk floated on top to which is added chopped and sliced fruit, plus a banana, a good dollop of 'live' yoghurt and the lot drizzled with a generous tablespoon of Greek thyme honey, or locally produced honey.

Groat oats are the highest in the nutrition chart, then steel-cut oats, then rolled aats and lastly, instant oats. If you are in a big hurry for work, then Ready Brek is a good nutritional choice. Their Original conttains no added sugar or salt.

Did over an hour of yoga today and it continues to make a difference, making me feel less groggy from the meds. I ate low glycemically all day and this helped keep the med cravings at bay. I wanted to take a walk today but it was pouring out so I was stuck inside.

I've been reading about the intermittent fasting thing too and I think I've been doing it without meaning to, because during the day I have very little food and try to exercise some each day, and have my main meal (which is not very big at that) at dinnertime. Periodically I have an attack of IBS which prevents me from eating much of anything for awhile, so between my regular regime and attacks of IBS I can usually manage to keep my weight somewhere within reason. Since I'm always trying to stay not just thin but ballet thin, this takes some doing.

My body seems to have gotten used to the daily routine, because if I go out to lunch and have a larger lunch, even if I then cut down on dinner I'll gain weight and have to struggle to get it off again.

Anyway, congratulations to all of you lovely determined people who, like me, are trying hard. This is a good , helpful thread. Sure you can fall off the wagon, but you can always get back on again. You don't need to let that discourage you. Best wishes!

I bought a 6 DVD set of beginner yoga videos from Amazon for $25 and it came yesterday, so I have been perusing those today--also did one of the workouts. It's a great set--it has about 50 different workouts.
