Great thread.
I do not have a good track record when it comes to indoor plants but I have a Peace Lily I have had a couple of years, I love the luscious leaves but it flowers only briefly and sporadically. I recently acquired a small aloe Vera cutting and I am being very careful with this one - I think I overwatered my last one. I love that someone left spider plant cuttings in your library - how thoughtful! I am thinking of getting a spider plant myself - I read they can help purify the air. |

Actually, we still have a large Norweghian fir tree we used for last Christmas. Though unnadorned of its tinsle, glitter and baubles, as soon as spring arrives we'll be planting outside. Its pot is huge and heavy and it's fronds are looking lush and green, so we think it will do well here until we plant it outside for good. We never liked Christmas trees devoid of their roots, so ever year we bout one with roots and planted it out the following spring. The one we've got is going to have new life when taken outside and replanted. And this one we've got is going to look resplendent.

No, but wish I did and I will perhaps research about the best plants to own in your home. Would like to own a few large house plants and possibly a few small succulent plants for the coffee table or end tables.

No, I don't have any because of the cats. They would try to eat it I'm sure. I have tried to grow "cat grass" for them. They can eat that and it is good for their tummies. Unfortunately, the seeds never did sprout. I think I will try again. I have two more kits to work with. But I just don't have a green thumb. I have killed a bonsai in the past, Two of them actually.

I germinated some pot seeds as a teen and put them in our basement windows. Told poor dear mom they were tomatoes...which they DID somewhat resemble at the beginning. She did her arithmetic I guess and told me to get rid of 'em after they were a foot or so high. Which was good timing really. They consequently became forest plants.

I recently killed a money plant. Where i live at the moment does not seem to have the just the right spot. Most of the indoor plants now live outside hanging from a tree branch.

I am back to houseplants now that I have someone who will care for them when I am gone.
Let's see, so far, philodendron, Christmas cactus, spider, umbrella and coleus __________________ "...don't say Home / the bones of that word mend slowly...' marie harris |

Good news... I got my cat grass to grow. It's been nourishing the cats for the past few days and I still have more to go. It just keeps growing. It's not supposed to last that long. I've been letting the cats nibble on it and I've been cutting some off to put in their food. I'm very excited that I was able to grow something!
