...as a child, you couldn't wait to experience as an adult...And when you became an adult, did it live up to your expectations?

And was there anything as a child swore you would never experience as an adult, and did you end up experiencing it? Was it good or bad?

One thing I couldn't wait to experience as a child was a Mudslide from Applebee's when I turned 21. Every time I'd go into Applebee's when I was little I'd drool over the idea of the mudslides. So when I turned 21, I went into Applebee's and ordered a mudslide...soooooo worth the wait!

And as a child, I swore I would never smoke cigarettes. I became a chain smoker for close to ten years and today is Day Seven of being smoke free.

As a child I always wanted to eat at the zoo. My parents always said it was too expensive. I took my mom to the zoo a couple years ago. I paid to park, paid to get in, then paid for lunch at one of the inside food stands. The food was awful and of course very expensive.

All I wanted when I was a child was a family. I wanted children. When I grew up and was mom to two children, I absolutely loved it. What I had never given thought to was how, when they became adults, I would hardly ever see them. That makes me feel very sad.

As a kid I would play Barbies and my husband’s name was always Steve since I liked that name. No my short lived marriage didn’t go well, but dated a very nice guy about a year and half later.

As a child I always wanted to go Zip lining: for those who may not know - Zip line - Wikipedia
And last weekend, I did.

I was terrified. But at the end, a very very lengthly end, I wanted to do it again.

Honestly, I never thought about being an adult when I was a child. I have always been one to live in the present. I guess the closest thing to this is that, as a teen, I was looking forward to leaving my parents' house. I love my dad, but he was a pain in the butt to live around. I was happy not to live with him anymore. I know my siblings felt the same way.

I'm in my late 40s. I don't know if it is a generational thing, or more a thing about my family, but my siblings and I had no intentions of hanging around my parents house beyond 18 years old. My sister got married at 19, my brother went straight into the navy, and I went off to college. I liked seeing my dear mom on many Saturday afternoons, but I was happy to be on my own. I kind of feel for the many young adults now having to stay with their parents so long, for obviously economic reasons, but I suppose a couple others, too. I never had children, so have no clue what any of mine would be dealing with.
