Hi everyone,
Truth is the most valuable commodity in the world. Yet there is so much effort to suppress it! Anyone else seeing this? Yes. I have seen it in these forums. Honesty is not always appreciated. *shrugs*

Yes, H. All you have to do is look at what’s going on at the highest levels of our government.

The truth is almost always suppressed by those who seek to retain power over others through their disinformation and denial of reality.

There is often another side to that matter. I think it was Freud who said 'The masses have never thirsted after truth they demand illusions. Just thought I would put that here as there has been a wonky election for a new government in Ireland and that quote is relevant.

Absolutely. But it makes sense to suppress the truth. Often, it is unpleasant and we want to avoid those feelings at all costs.

Truth is also information. So, yes, it can be a tool for good or bad depending on the people, or groups of people, who deem it so. Hence all the b.s.

In the movie "A Few Good Men", Jack Nicholson's response to Tom Cruise when he asked for the truth.
"You can't handle the truth!" Sadly, that's true for many reasons. People will try to brainwash you with their beliefs. An example is environmental activists blaming flying for climate problems. Experts have shown aviation is not a major contributor. Some people believe they can't understand a lot of what they're being told, or don't want to, choosing to live in their own world where everything is fine. We are conditioned to believe what we hear from politicians because we believe voting for them will deliver what we want. Then there's the media. A journalist once said to me "If it's in the newspaper, it must be true. You don't believe everything you read in the newspaper, do you?" A great topic, with so many questions and answers |
