feel free to add to this list if you can think of any
- it highlights the need for handwashing and good hygiene (and good hygiene is something we all need)

- it allows us to finish projects we may have started and put off for what ever reason

- their is less on the news about stabbings, murders, things being stolen, etc

who else has one (or more) they'd like to add to this.

Great post, raging vortex. Thanks.

-- it creates opportunities for altruism and acts of moral greatness.

-- it creates opportunities for hope, the virtue between the extremes of presumption and despair.

companies are doing their best to help out in the current situation
example: the UK wasn't meant to get disney plus until june, we have it now

audible are releasing hundreds of free titles to keep the kids off school entertained

oh and

it gives me the perfect excuse not to worry about looking good.

The environment appears to be clearing up. Air quality much improved in places where people are sheltering in place; water clearing up in Venice canals so you can see fish at the bottom and dolphins playing.

I really love how people are coming together through all this. There's so much kindness, compassion and togetherness, despite having to be home.

I am taking this time to learn to crochet, write, start a blog, nurture my existing relationships, use the skills I learned in therapy, and catch up on some good reading and tv, especially things that are light and funny. This is sort of an introvert's dream lol.

I feel my stress level dropping and came to realize what *they* have told me all along - let go of trying to control my life. I can't control any of this.

I've picked up model making again.

I'm teaching myself about the stars.

Funny story - I went to the grocery store on Tuesday and it was crazy. The lines stretched all the way to the back of the store on both sides. So I decided to ham it up. I go on with "My wife said go to the grocery store, it will be fine. My wife said I'd be back in an hour. My wife said there wouldn't be anyone here". Without missing a beat, a 75 year old lady in front of me turned around and said "Sounds like your wife just wanted to get rid of you". Everyone cracked up.

I've been practicing my violin a lot. And I can actually have time for a lesson by video call with my teacher now, which means I actually am getting more instruction because she lives an hour away and it's been difficult to get to her every week. So this has actually been good in a way for my playing.

And today I had a major breakthrough practicing vibrato where my fingers actually started to relax and naturally produce the vibrato!

I grew up watching The Twilight Zone and reading science fiction and stuff. The Outer Limits. Thriller. One Step Beyond. You always wonder how you'd react if so challenged. Were those better worlds? Now we are there.

People are buying bidets, which require less toilet paper or no toilet paper. In the long run this could be very good for the environment, particularly if it becomes truly widespread. From what I've read sales have doubled or tripled.

It's March and I'm getting a tan. Temps here are in the 80s. I've been spending time working outside while I'm home. No worries about distancing from others. I live in the middle of 10 acres. Physical distancing is normal around here.

"The true beauty in all of this is that we are literally all in this together - our families, neighbors, and team members. It's amazing how moments like this remind of what's more important in life. It’s moments like this that unify and strengthen.

It’s also these moments when you realize superpowers you never even knew you had or things that you are capable of. That's the silver lining - perhaps the most positive thing to think about right now is how much stronger this will make you and what you will learn about yourself in the process."

The silver lining - how to stay positive amidst all of the uncertainty?

I just got a video on messenger from a friend. Anyway it says the way the virus works is to solidify mucus, so the way to help yourself is to drink hot liquids as often as possible, and gargle with antiseptics, as well as the wash hands, and wash clothes if gone out.
