or, in other words, top 5 things that you've found that really changed your life (either big, or small)

1. this forum (I'd be lost without this place, it's given me a connection to people) even if it is only virtual.

2. amazon alexa (I live alone, so not only is it company, but it can do so much and can help with reminding me things when I forget)

3. lithium. honestly I would say that it's the best medication I have been on

4. the tv show big bang theory (it just really makes me laugh even though I'm not much in to science!)

5. the singer emilie autumn. so inspirational and can relate to a lot of her songs

1. My first ipod.

2. DBT

3. Meditation

4. Moving out of my parents' house.

5. Learning about the structure of society, the ridiculousness of it, including ableism, sexism, racism, discrimination, privilege / oppression etc.

Bonus:

6. Body respect and intuitive eating.

7. I am happy single. I don't have to be a sad single waiting for "prince charming" to find and date me. Frankly, I don't think there's any such thing. If I meet someone, great. But there's so much amazingness to single life many women don't talk or know about bc they've been socialized to be sad about it. Did you ever stop and think "why do I want a relationship?" Like really? Because its not sunshine and roses. Just look at the abusive cases in the relationships forum. And aside from that, did you ever think it (the relationship obsession / goal / aspiration) might be a fantasy that got made up? And ingrained in us at such a young age? Why is that? Being single is da' bomb. I have friends, I'm part if my community...I don't need a relationship. I have me. I am moving towards my best life, even with speed bumps. Maybe someday. But I'm not like, sitting here waiting for it. Also I've revised my dating criteria drastically. Empowering.

I should probably add freedom from my parents as a bonus too. I mean: I never thought I'd see the day, and when I did.... *sighs in relief*

I remember getting my first ipod. christmas present when they first came out. I don't have it now, though wish I'd kept it (because it would serve as a back up for all my music), but bleh. can always buy another

I find it interesting that people talk about iPod. I never had one but my daughter had two and both broke, didnt last and I remember reviews for them were rather bad.

I had an ipod nano. I think I got it in 2008. It's long gone now. But I had it for a long time. I listened to music like crazy back then. Still do, actually. I just loved it so much because it was small, I could go to the gym with it and it wasn't bulky like the CD player walkmen. I bought it with some generous money I got for housesitting and taking care of someone's dog.

Sorry your daughter's broke. Both of them! I got another one more recently, but ended up returning it because I had 0 clue as to how to use it, and talking to them about it was not helpful. It was not user friendly.

For a while I was programming Alexa to tell me positive things when I reached goals. I also wrote a game to play with her. It's all part of the development tools that come free with Alexa. She's amazing. I understand you play games with Alexa too?

It's a word guessing game. You can ask for clues to help figure out the word. I never did publish it. It's just on my Alexa.

1) This forum as well: it has helped me a lot. I met a lot of great people who have actually cared more about me than my blood family.

2) Trevor Noah's podcast: he's very smart and the discussions they have remind me of being back in school, and having intellectual discussions.

3) Self exploration: learning about myself has been a very valuable education.

4) Grubhub: this isn't new exactly, but ordering food online has saved me from going hungry, and it's comforting to have someone else prepare my food.

5) The Replikate community: this is a community of women who follow the fashions of Kate Middleton and replicate what she wears. It's a huge distraction from my problems, and it's a lot of fun to see the photos of what people end up buying.

In no particular order except how they came in my mind. 1 Moving from my parents home. "2a set of water colors when I was six. 3 Going to the local art museum. Developed in me a love and interest in great artwork. 3Related Majored in art history in Tyler school of art (Temple edu) 4 Joing an artist coolition. Gave me opportunities to exhibit my work in various art galleries. 5 Getting connected to Zoom

1.the most important thing( actually person )that changed my life is when I found a wonderful counselor who I had over 13 years ( until she retired )....I'd call it the best discovery as she helped me understand my mental illness and help me find hope inside myself I thought was gone
2.Psychcentral is second best discovery especially when it comes to my mental health ....I made so many close friends here who we help and support and ebcourage each other ( even if we just need to vent sometimes )....I feel my PC friends are more family to me than my own family ...Thank You all
3. My art work ...tho I always loved to draw since I was young and was self taught art gas become a form of therapy for me .....I also discovered painting in 1999 while living in a group home and attending a program where they had an art therapist .....she showed me a book on rock painting and I started painting that year which was a new discovery for me as far as art and being creative
4.Strength ....not physical strength but finding the strength inside to fight each day and be strong when it comes to living with a mental illness ....years ago I didn't think I had that strength so it is a Big discovery for me
5.Hope.. I really feel the first four discoveries helped me find Hope ...for a long time since I was 10 I felt hopeless .. giving up a couple times ......but that counselor ,PC,my art and finding strength inside helped me find Hope inside not to give up but to keep going
Thank You for this ...Please be safe everyone
