I've had two Lulu songs from the 60's stuck in my head the past two days.
1) To Sir With Love 2) The Boat That I Row Used to hear them a lot as a baby and a small child. She was a great singer Lulu. |

I just remembered a wonderful documentary film called Touching the Void about 2 climbers descending a summit in the Andes, one of them, Joe, falls and breaks his leg and the other has to leave him to get help. When Joe is lying in the freezing cold he becomes delusional with the pain and ends up with the song 'Brown Girl in the ring' by Boney M going around his head. It's the most bizarre earworm but it sort of keeps him focused and with it as he battles for survival.
It's an amazing film and I recommend it. |

Yes, I've seen that film @Discombobulated. Absolutely epic film of survival against the odds. Yes, the 'Brown Girl In The Rain' song, wow. You're right, in that instance having a song going round and round in his head, had a certain survival value. Amazing film all right. Herculean perseverance.
Incidentally, the only tool I personally use with any semblance of positive effect against repetitive thoughts, is mindfulness. I'm sure you've heard of it or even utilize it. |

I’ve had The song “That Time.” Stuck in my head for a couple days. I was obsessed with it when I was 14 and I just downloaded it onto my phone a week ago.

"Masquerade", both Leon Russell and The Carpenters. At the same time. Beautiful song, but seriously. I'm actively working to make it stop.

The instrumental version of "I can see your tracks" by Laura Veirs runs through my head often enough it could be my theme song.

Thanks @mote.of.soul I can always benefit from a reminder to use mindfulness.
Can I ask how you actively practice mindfulness yourself? With me I kind of go "Oh here is that thought again" and acknowledge it without judgement. Then I try to move onto another internal dialogue. |

And I also use it during very stressed out times by bringing my awareness onto the process of breathing, focusing on my breath and also on my body, staying relaxed and composed. Otherwise I have a tendency to be impulsive and act without first thinking things through. |
