I have no idea if this is a mental health issue or not but does anyone else get songs stuck in their head?
Sometimes it's one I like but not always, it tends to happen when I am feeling a little stressed or anxious. It's not usually welcome and very hard to tune out from it. Often it's not even the whole song just a bit of it, the hook usually. |

I do get songs stuck in my head, daily. For me its not typically a problem,though and I don't,mind. Its always interesting to see what song is,playing in my head when I wake in the morning. Something usually is.

Me too! Normally I don't mind but sometimes it can interfere when I want to switch off.
I work in an environment where music plays loudly most of the time and think that may be a factor. |

For some reason, I haven't had this problem lately (my meds?, that I am listening to music less often?). However, it has been an on and off problem for me since I was a child. Perhaps it is a hypo thing because it tends to happen with uplifting, upbeat type music the most. Sometimes, the first song I hear in the morning that makes me feel good or that I relate to can get "stuck" for days. Usually it is just a few lines of the song. It becomes especially annoying when just one line keeps repeating.
 There are certain songs that I know can have this effect when my brain is behaving this way. For your sake  , I won't include any links to the songs or mention the artists.

Yes it happens to me and sometimes it almost seems like racing thoughts. I don’t really pay attention to it much anymore.

Definitely. In fact, there's rarely a time when I don't have a song stuck in my mind.
But there's the "normal" song stuck in my mind - if it gets annoying I imagine a STOP sign. Every time the song starts playing in my mind I see the sign and think the word stop. Then there's the hypomanic/manic music, which is a song with another song with lots of genres of music, all overlapping and each piece of music has very defined notes, lyrics, even images. The ambient sounds (blurred TV, a woman screaming, crashing, and so on) from Pink Floyd's music will play over and over , soft and loud, when I feel manic. __________________ |

Yup, usually not a problem for me. I take piano lessons, and sometimes if I'm working on something that's a little too catchy, my brain will just keep playing it over and over.

It does happen to me sometimes but not really in the way you described.
Not to scare you at all @Discombobulated, but sometimes hearing music in the head continually can be related to psychosis. On the other hand having the music at your workplace might be the root cause, plus stress, maybe the anxiety and possibly a busy mind from winding down from your day at work. Just some of my thoughts there. |

I have ear worms quite often. I researched it and it’s a very common experience, but I did read (if I remember correctly) that those with anxiety disorders are more prone to ear worms.
Sometimes I get my own voice stuck in my head after I say something, or a coworkers voice after being around them all day. I find it to be a normal experience. |

And I've read on mental health websites that sounds in the head, auditory hallucinations, voices, music, etc., can be related to psychosis. That's probably different though, to having a song stuck in your head from time to time, which is pretty common, sometimes annoying but not really problematic. And obviously I'm not a doctor but that's basically what I know. |

It depends on my situation. What is going on at the time. For example Dental appt. tomorrow. Constantly thinking of the song "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth."

Yes this happens to me alot too ..I get a song stuck in my head or part of a song ....I don't go out much these because if all going on so I think it might be a song I hear on TV from a show or movie ( not a song I listen to intentionally on radio or something ) but a song I have no idea where it came from
When I go shopping well when I used to ...sometimes after I'd get a song in my head I probably heard it in the store but don't remember actually hearing it It's really kind of amazing how our minds work and pick out a song we may have heard and not noticed or even if we didn't just hear it a song just comes into our head perhaps because of how we feel or what's going on at the time Stay Safe everyone |
