lack of access/ slow internet

it was so boring without a computer, I mean: tv was nice, but my agoraphobia did make finding things to do difficult.

I will not miss:

My histrionic, narcissistic little sister who was off-the-charts anti-social, as well, and very scheming and vicious and cruel (Yes, I said LITTLE sister!). I had to share a room with her, and it was always something, every day. She found ways to make my life hell that, honestly, never would have occurred to me to do to someone even in my darkest moments.

I will forever despise ANYONE who bullied me back then. There were a few. Kids can be so terribly cruel, and short-sighted. They do so much damage.

My parents' mutually-enabled drinking. They were functional alcoholics, and it took me years to even realize there was a problem. Still doing the therapy....

The way my mother openly favoured that same sister. She chose not to see what a little monster she was. She was very harsh and hyper-critical of my brother and myself. We could never do anything to please her. Thankfully, Dad was more affectionate and a bit kinder and warmer than Mom. Still doing the therapy....

The clothes from the seventies. Ugh, so ugly, and almost all polyester! The footwear was nasty, too.

The music (disco) from the seventies. Stupid, inane, and nightmarish. Ugh, ugh! (Sorry, disco lovers.) Now I've probably made some permanent enemies!!!

Hardly ever getting to watch the kinds of television I liked. Everyone got first or second dibs over me. (It worked out alright---it made a reader out of me.)

However, It wasn't all bad. I loved the cars, I loved our high school, and I loved the progressive rock of that time. And friends I made in those days are still treasured friends, now.

it saddens me to say that when it comes to tv, I grew up too quickly.

I always will enjoy cartoons (to this day), but I remember at the age of 9/10 having a soap opera I enjoyed, an american chat show and a holiday programme- all of them adult programmes.

I also agree with you about the 70's disco music. while I didn't hate it, I did think that quite a lot of the music was repetitive

The stress my parents created in my life even though at the time I didn't understand that was what it was.....there was just constant conflict I felt but had no clue what it was until in my older years finally have peace in my life as a comparison.
