I've always wanted try my hand at stand up comedy. I am the jokester of the group and I can do many impersonations, but what holds me back is it's not something I want to do as a career, I'm scared of crowds, and I'm afraid of being laughed at (and not because of my jokes). But boy, do I have some zingers! Perhaps one day, if there was a local comedy gig, I might give it a try.

What's something you've always wanted to do but are too afraid to do it? What would allow you to do that thing, and what is holding you back?

I'm scared of horses though. they are so big, and strong, and... just, horse like

I have done everything I have wanted to in my life. Fear has never been an issue with me nor being so self-conscious it stopped me.

Have performed on my flute, conducted choir, got my BS degree in accounting & computer science when my daughter was 10 months old. Had a computer engineering career & one of the programs I programmed was used to fly a military jet by (without it crashing). I wandered around Rome for 6 weeks basically alone, just exploring everything I could find. I have skied the black diamond bowl in Jackson hole, gone hot air ballooning, repelled 500 ft into a cave & then spelunked around the cave system at the bottom. Zip lined, ride horses (including my own). Moved to my farm in a town where I knew no one & started life over at 54. Gor a chance to volunteer at the World Equestrian Games in 2010 working on the crew that did all the floral decorating of the venue & met horse people from all around the world.

Probably more things if I really stopped to think about it. I have never wanted for doing anything even though my childhood left me wanting, I made up for it when I had control over my life.

Sing a karaoke song. I've always wanted to sing a karaoke song but talking in groups let alone singing in front of people, terrifies me. Perhaps one day, though.

I was making great progress. I was doing 500 words a day 5 days a week. Then I got some feedback and now I'm thinking to much and worried about editing. I have writer's block now. I'm afraid I'll produce junk. I just have to get back in the flow.

Fear never really held me back from trying to do the things I wanted. I always just went for it, and usually succeeded. Now my problem is being unable to do the things I want because of bipolar, that's one of the most frustrating things about it. I used to be a private pilot but I haven't been able to fly in years because I'm just too unstable and tired. I guess I miss that the most. I hope to get stable enough to be able to do that again.

Solo travel, move to a new city, toastmasters.

@LiteraryLark I love to laugh. Its the best medicine, as they say. I used to want to do improv but I'm pretty sure it would be a wrong fit for me, some of the reasons why were reasons you also described. There are many ways to be playful and make people laugh just in everyday conversation, thankfully. You don't have to go on stage to make others laugh. But, if you ever did want to, I believe in you.

I'm scared of flying but I've always wanted to experience G-Force in a fighter jet like in Top Gun. I recently watched the movie Top Gun and it made me want to go in one of those planes and do crazy stunts.

DJ for a big crowd. But I'm overweight and I'm not young anymore. I won't even dj over Instagram. I'm ashamed of how I look and I can't handle negative comments. I tried Twitch once, someone told me I was ugly.

I'd like to have my own business someday. I'm hoping I will retrieve my organizational skills enough to do that, and stay self-motivated and creative.

I've also watched those Landscape Artist of the Year shows, from England. It would be neat to enter something like that, and perhaps even win. I know I had the skills and the confidence needed, at one time.

That's one thing about all of this depression stuff that the outside world doesn't get---how much it kicks out of you. But I've gotten some things back!

It would be awesome to fly in the face of it, regardless, and succeed at something novel.
