Does anyone else need to have someone constantly with them? Like at doctors visits or at the grocery stores or just in general? I don’t drive but I need my mom actually in the doctors office with me so she can do a lot of the talking and also hear what’s being said. My therapist says its totally fine “to have mom” with me in these appointments. I feel at times that people think I’m not capable. But maybe I really am not.

Most of the time, when I'm out in public, my wife is with me. I don't drive anymore & I won't take public transportation. So the only places I can go alone are places I can walk to. Occasionally I'll walk alone to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. And I used to walk to the place where I got my hair cut. (I go with my wife to the place she goes now because I lack confidence in the place I used to go to due to the current pandemic situation.) I also go to the dentist alone & sometimes to the medical clinic both of which are within walking distance. But I'm always seriously less comfortable being out alone than I am when my wife & I are together.

Not me. I think those synapses were pruned as not needed in the first two weeks of my life, if the stories my mother tells are correct. Its like, i dont get it, i dont understand it, and i dont know how to not be annoying to the other person. I cant read them, we are never hungry or thirsty at the same time or at times convenient for the other person, and if you force me to choose, i will always pick the wrong movie. On my own, i love the movies i pick and regret not having someone to share them with. Yet the theater is full.

I am very indipendent, and really don't like when others take over ordering for me, talking for me, what ever. I'll do it myself (sometimes it may take me an eternity, but I'll do it) and if I find that I can't do it at all because of anxiety, I'll try again later (either the same day or another date)

I very seldom have anyone with me, anywhere. Very rarely my husband drives me to the doctor and comes in with me. That feels like a party! I'm so used to being entirely alone.

I've had times when I really needed my husband's support. Then little by little I became more independent again. I wouldn't feel bad about needing the support, but it may be good to try doing something solo, occasionally.

I was an only child. I learned to do things alone from the beginning. My parents were basically annoying so always wanted to be alone. Married for 33 years.....so thankful to now be living ALONE on my farm out in the country. I like being with people but taking care of myself & handling things without someone else getting in the way & screwing things up makes my life so much simpler.

My husband almost always goes with me to doctors' appointments. I'm a little slow on the uptake, and I like to make sure he agrees with me on what was said.
