I want to write.

I think, partly, I'm not sure where to start. I feel very compelled to write my thoughts, and opinions, write them well, and share them. I also want to write personal essays / creative nonfic.

I think I want to start a blog. I'm sort of nervous for 2 reasons. I want to write empowering things, but I have to wade through the negative emotions and **** that is my past and life. I also worry about negative comments.

I recently started a blog and now I don't like the name, and I haven't even written in it lol. Every time I go to it, I feel intimidated by the idea of publishing something, even on the internet. I think I will start with a word document. Practice.

I know I have a voice. I know it could lift people up and make people feel. I also want to do this for me. It could be very satisfying.

I think writing is pretty cool. For me, it's been immensely rewarding to write my whole life. I feel like writing has helped me heal and express myself creatively.

Good for you and you are coming up with options!! I wrote out my thoughts for years before I started blogging. I used Zoho documents and then switched to Google Docs. They were my private thoughts and it helped me get my thoughts out of my head and in black and white in front of me. I think it's a great idea!!

I think writing is an excellent way to heal and process your thoughts and emotions. I also agree that perhaps starting with a word document is enough in the beginning. Then after some time passes you can edit, re-think etc and once you're fully satisfied publish it.
What might work well is first write long entries. As long as you can, with every single detail, emotion, etc. Then as you edit, make it shorter and shorter, eventually only leaving the main points that have been polished to maximum form.
Give yourself a limit, perhaps one page per entry and then publish. Also, keeping it shorter will get more readers to actually read. People are lazy.

Thank you seeker! And thanks for your advice. I agree that some people are lazy and don't want to read long stuff. I'm sometimes one of them, lol.

That's awesome that you're thinking of writing. You have some excellent approaches to it. I wish you success. Writing has been therapeutic for me. Like you, I started off privately and then grew from there.

You could go to the writers forum. They have sections you can post to for feedback without it being seen in a search engine. It's a great community, you just have up post 10 things before you can post to the feedback subforums (it's to mitigate spammers)

Its cool your thinking of writing your thoughts down. I write a blog. on wordpres.org. One thing I noticed are spam comments. . If you're concerned about spam and if you use wordpress.com or wordpress.org there's a plugin called "Askimet" One thing certainly true of the net is there are unfortunately trolls. I personally experienced them. If you decide to do a blog you might want to see if you can control comments. Just a suggestion. I know from workshops doing a journal is a truly therapuetic experiences that helps you with your views, your thoughts, your persective.

True words are the heart to the soul. Most writers before the actually go ahead and blog or publish fear that their work won't be good enough. Those are the good ones. It's more rewarding in the end to appreciate the art of it and doubt that it'll sell. Then you know you've made it and with the extra. Incidence can do more the next time. Not all or noting - progress.

I think that writing thoughts down is a very cool idea. I also think that writing is an excellent way to heal and process emotions and thoughts. I don't have a blog but I do write more sometimes somewhere than I usually do on pc. I think its great that you used to write a bit and are wanting to get back into this.

Goodness! You've gotten all sorts of great feedback and advice!

Here's more of mine:

Take some steps back, sort through and ask yourself: What do I want to do?

I think what matters is getting your thoughts out of your head. If you don't feel ready to show your work to anyone, honor your feelings. Let them guide you; their job is to help you find your way.

Great advice, folks. I am a writer (fiction) and I love it. Don't know if I'll get published, but I enjoy it.

You might try running what you write by some friends for feedback before opening up your thoughts to the general public. That's what I'm doing.

Sure use Microsoft html and then copy and paste onto a website/Forum/Blog. Then just type out all your imagination and make up stories.

Try some things without a target audience in mind. Then post a few things and see how it goes. I have no doubt you have a voice.

I used to journal a lot when I was 13-17. I did a lot of free association writing. My handwriting would start out perfectly normal and eventually I’d fill pages and you couldn’t read my handwriting. The stuff I wrote sounded like Eminem songs even though I didn’t listen to him then. It was very therapeutic. I wish I had continued.

Try starting with a diary or a log of your day. I'm published. A collection of writings is a good beginning.

I loved it when I started blogging, and I didn't limit myself to only blogging about one thing. To me, limitation can cause me to experience writer's block.

My blog is on Wordpress. It used to be a little more user friendly than it is now, though.
