The planes are structured out of infinite points (---> . < ---) and each point represented a thought, and where the planes intersected is the current thought and the next over dot is a branch of thought, but as the planes move the options change to fit the combination of those two thoughts.

I am too busy wondering about how to fix real things that exist in my life than to spend time thinking abstract thoughts. Nice you have time to think like that. I own a farm & something is always breaking I need to figure out how to fix with what I have

Thank you for replying regardless. You must be good at understanding parts and pieces then? Maybe one day we could talk about the duties of running a farm because that is very interesting.

Got my degree in Accounting & computer science (late 70's). Spent my career as a computer design engineer for military communication systems. Was always good at fixing & repairing things so living alone on the little farm I bought, maintaining & fixing the things I can & have tools (or make shift tools) always came naturally. Art & music are thrown into that mix too. Used to perform on flute in chamber music groups & now love to paint (when I have a little time)

I remember Geometry class in high school where we learned there are an infinite number of points between each point on a line. Nice to know but when I am drawing a line.....I just draw the line.....NOT the infinite number of points. I logged the concept in my mind but never focused on it. I am one that looks at the big picture, not the infinite number of small details because it bogs down the brains ability to really problem solve.

You seem like one interesting individual who understands hard work and dedication, thank you for sharing your past occupations and schooling. I often get stuck behind all the details, for instance in my art there is no real shapes or structures, just another line I have added to the previous line, when making games I never actually finish them because I keep working on fine details and unnecessary mechanics to make it function more realistically or how I desire it to. I have been known to make tools to fix things, like working on my skateboard, I have made tools out of tape and bolts before, I make my own paintbrushes a lot when drawing on rocks with my finger paint. I would love to hear more about your views on the mind and I envy your ability to see the bigger picture and maybe we can share our insight on creation to fit function.

In my career, we got specifications from the military we designed from. For me, flow charting always worked best as my initial means of design because if I got stuck in one area I could leave it open & work through another logic path until the solution came to me or I had time to talk it through with the other engineers. I did spend more time on design than other engineers but in the long run I spent less debug time. However there is always the leaning to spend time in design over & over & not get to implementation.....so the line has to be drawn & more design can happen in the implementation phase but just enough to fix issues that become obvious. Having the specification makes one start with the big picture. Yes, I struggled with calculus because I got bogged down in details & never really understood the concepts that were really key to that type of math. I got by BUT I just got by in that year of calculus. My art is always taking a picture or a photo I have taken & drawing or painting it similar to the photo. I deal mostly in realism painting though I have designed & painted woodland creature art that is not based on any photos. I actually love taking existing art & trying to copy it because it does teach me how to work with perspective & shading so I can apply it to other works of art I attempt. Owning my own farm I have learned basic plumbing skills, I do all the maintenance & repairs I have tools for on my lawn tractor. Basic woodworking, basic electrical. Basic repairs on my truck. Have some work around here I need professionals to do & sometimes it takes me forever to get things done until they become a top priority because of all the work it takes around here. My horse is at the neighboring farm's barn & have done a few maintenance things around there that became a priority too. I also do basic vet care when I need to in order to avoid huge vet bills. I have wild raccoons & possum that come for food. They know who cares for them. I always start with the "what needs to be accomplished" then I go into the how design keeping the WHAT as my focus __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. Flow charting and organizational journals is something I have had great interest in but get overwhelmed usually, I suppose if I just roughed it out and forced myself to adapt to a more structured approach I could accomplish a lot more.
When you re-create drawings or pictures do you use underlying structure or have you gotten good at just copying it without the bone works? I tried learning perspective drawing techniques but end up just winging it with the result being a heavily off proportioned scene. I will start taking into account what it is that I am trying to do before I start doing it from now on. |

When I recreate drawings I just do it without any underlying structure. I was getting together in an art group of friends before life got so busy. One drawing I was copying I made it bigger than the original.....so big I had to tape more paper at the bottom to finish it. Lol.....we all got a laugh out of that because we were ALWAYS supposed to keep it within the size of paper we started with. It turned out really good which was why I refused to start over I found that starting with drawing boxes was a good way to start learning the angels of perspective. There are some good sites on the internet to learn more about it if you do a search on "how to draw perspective". Yes, goal oriented thinking is key to successes. Though I didn't start off knowing what my goal in college was, I started off getting my AA in music then realizing I couldn't meet my goal of being totally independent with that. Changed my total major when I was a Junior. Got married, had our daughter while focusing on my goal of graduating with a degree & a career. Had to battle family wanting to change my goal but I knew what was right for me & held strong to my goal. Glad I did but it was a battle. Sometimes things our goals take a battle to achieve & it is usually worth it in the end......but keeping focus on the goal is the only way to get there __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. Maybe I'll start today trying to think of a proper life goal. Up scaling seems difficult, wouldn't you have to invent some of the detail you wouldn't normally see on a lesser resolution of a painting?

Actually no more details are necessary in a larger version of a picture, especially of a pencil drawing. It's just like enlarging a page of a book on a photocopier. __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. We went everywhere together like this. I tried some realistic drawings earlier, I definitely need practice. I have taken a bit longer to achieve most goals than my peers but I am moving along, and not too far behind. I would love to see one of your paintings if you wanted to share.
