Hi, I've posted here before about weight gain and Olanzapine. My question is, will I lose weight if I quit my meds? Currently doing light workouts and using meal replacements.

Olanzapine scares the crap out of me — with my host of physical disorders I can’t take the stuff. From what I’ve read it can cause weight gain or weight loss.

I don’t know if you’ll lose weight if you cease taking your meds. I believe that if I were you, I would discuss your concerns with your doctor before you stop taking your meds. S/he has you on an antipsychotic for a reason.

Good luck.

it is possible blupri, with the light exercises and a decent diet, but please be careful not to stop a medication for weight reasons without a replacement and under a pdocs supervision.
good luck to you!

Hi, what was the outcome? I am on Olanzapine and gained some serious weight. I talked to my pdoc and he didn't recommend switching antipsychotics since it is so effective for me. FYI I have been on it for 5 years.

Everyone’s different but I lost a ton of weight and kept it off after getting off meds.
