So I've been on Prozac, Abilify, and Trazadone for almost 3.5 years now. I'm in a good place now mentally and have been in one for a few months. My wife and I are romantic with each other. I have a good job where i make decent money. It's by no means a lot and my wife makes less than I. But i can pay my bills, put a little aside, and still have fun. Looking back, my depression and anxiety was mostly coming from the job situation. More specifically the lack of money. But now I'm at a good job with advancement opportunities. So i think it's time to start weaning off my meds. Only problem is i'm about to loose my health insurance on December 1st. and it won't start up again until January 1st. So there's going to be a whole month where i cant get my prescription filled. Nor can I see my psychiatrist. Who I'm sure is totally against me getting off my meds.

I take 10mg of Abilify. I started off taking 5mg and will be cutting my 10mg in half and taking it for 3 weeks. Once i'm off of Abilify I will move on to Prozac.

I take 60mg of prozac in a 20mg and 40mg form. Now I'm thinking I can quit taking the 20mg and only take the 40mg for a three weeks. Then reduce myself down to 20mg for another three weeks. Finally quitting prozac all together.

Trazadone 100mg is easy as I can go cold turkey on it whenever I please as I only take as needed. So i'm thinking cutting my pills in half and only taking 50mg as needed. Which was my original prescription once I first started on Trazadone.

Now i know what you all will suggest. That I don't do this without the help of my psychiatrist. But she will not let me off my meds until I go years without a depressive episode. Which seems ridiculous to me as my depression is caused by temporary life events.

So what do you all think???

Do you think that maybe all the great things that are going on are because you have found the right combo of meds. I know it is easy to want off meds when we feel good but I have never seen it end well. Good luck and happy landings.

Sorry it went badly, but as you've done quite well for the past few years, I'd keep up the rx regimen. Money etc will always be a problem, even if you're a millionaire!! I'm new and posted, because I went cold turkey 18 months ago (for perfectly legitimate and understandable reasons).
