To make a very long story short, my new psychiatrist thinks I don't have ADHD and won't refill my Adderall. I'm trying to find a new doctor but in the meantime she hasn't given me any help on how to stop taking it.
It is my understanding that quitting cold turkey is really bad. I already ran out and tried not taking it but the withdrawals are too severe. Luckily I have a few left from a really old prescription that I broke in half but I'm scared I will run out before I stop having withdrawals. I tried asking to see another doctor at the same office but they won't let me. What do I do? This is making me so anxious and depressed and I don't know how to survive without this medication that has helped me for years or how to get off of it. I'm really terrified and I feel like she is being negligent. |

Dear Janel2008,
I am so very, very sorry you are suffering such distress and grief! I wish I had some really good advice, but sadly I am at a loss. Do you think you might want to see another psychiatrist in another office for guidance and help? So sorry if that is not helpful. I hope many people will see your post and will have really helpful ideas for you. It is so heartbreaking that you are suffering! Sincerely yours, Yao Wen |

Thank you for your response. Maybe I can ask my pharmacist about it. I don't know. I'm in the process of getting a referral for another psychiatrist but unfortunately it's a lengthy process and I'm stuck with her in the meantime. I thought about calling my old psychiatrist but don't know if he can do anything since I haven't seen him for several months.
