It was sudden and unexpected. He was in the hospital for seven days and he died while he was in the hospital. He was 53 years old. they tried to revive him. His heart had stopped working. He lived with me I'm 50 years old. I have major depression and it has gotten worse since losing my brother. I miss him a lot. I was his caretaker because he had many health issues. When he died I felt like I had let him down. It hurts so much I cry sometimes when I see his belongings in the house. I know they say time heals grief but it feels like it will take a long time for me.

hi darkest days
it may take a very long time for you. this is something that you shouldnt even be worrrying about right now. this is all still too fresh. if you are wanting to lesson your pain, you may think about boxing up your brother's items, not the personal ones, you will want those, those are special, but the clothes and things you will not be using or needing. hold on to only the things he cherished or that hold cherished memories for you and donate them. this will help alleviate some of the pain for you. but please, do not feel like you let him down. he had healht issues severe enough to require a care taker. you gave everything you could to him i am sure. most caretakers give more of themselves than taking care of themselves. do not feel you let him down. you made him as comfortable and cared for as possible. as loved as possible during his last days. imagine if he werein a home. you gave him personalized loving care he could have got no where else. you did not let him down. be proud of you for what you gave and know that he was probably thankful. |

I too lost my brother last month. I was very close to him and I miss him immensely. He lived interstate and we spoke via phone. He had a mental illness too. He was the only relative that truly understood me, now he's gone, what can I do? All I can do is treasure what I have of his and remember the good times. PH |

my baby brother died in October, he was 59, and had been crippled by a stroke for 14 yrs. he refused to go to the hospital, both times. i think he's happy to be free of the shackles that bound his life to limping and not talking. i still talk to him, he'll never be gone, for me. but it is disconcerting to see him in the market,,, ooops, someone his shape and size....
my heart goes out to you. __________________ AWAKEN~! |
