Heart losing my mentally ill sister

hi ~

I am having a hard time these days as my older sister is dying & I've had no one to talk to about it since my family is very estranged. she has had chronic schizophrenia since I was around 8 years old but I still remember very well what a strong creative person she was before she got sick.. I've been posting a memorial each day in the comments of my blog here ~

snowball in hell: some thoughts on adult insecure attachment..

I wonder if others here have gone through losing their schizophrenic relative? her life was so difficult & tragic, it is uniquely painful as it is like we already lost her or what was essentially her, decades ago, & have been on hold emotionally for all this time..

thanks to anyone who takes the time to read..

You have my sincere sympathies! It is very hard to lose a loved one especially when she has been ill for such a long time. God Bless her and your family. I know you said you are all estranged but there is grief no matter where you are.

Yes gohst at gate I lost my younger brother last year. He was 44 and schizophrenic. Very creative and talented. Finally so called cured in podc terms from meds, but he lost his battle with chronic pancriatis. Alone.. I suffer every day thinking about him and the 25 years he was not there. He lived with us enjoying every minute of his last 3 years happy. Not easy to loose anyone you love. Special snuggles from me and my little brother in spirit.

Hi ghost at the gate and others

My brother just died on 13 January. He had Schizophrenia for 19 years, he was 39. As some of you said, my brother likes yours, was not always there so I spent many times not being able to have a relationship with my brother due to him being psychotic. We had the funeral on Wednesday. I will miss him dearly. I hope you can find the strength to get through the enormity of losing a sibling. I hope and pray that I can too.

after many weeks my family have all agreed finally together that this is no quality of life for my sister the way she is now & have expressed our feelings to the court, the drs will make their decision soon.. my niece painted her fingernails a pretty pink, & my sister put a torquoise cross bracelet on her wrist & told her we all love her.. when she was not psychotic she was such a happy fun person with such a good sense of humor, i know she would just love all the attention..
i think about her every day & remember all the good times..
thanks for everyone's support..
