I am 55 years old and I lost my boyfriend of 4 years to cancer 3 weeks ago and I'm not handling it well. I lost my husband to cancer 8 years ago. I have zero interest in looking to my future. No interest in people. And I absolutely do not want to participate in the holidays. I keep trying to tell myself that my depression is temporary. But I will never get close enough to anyone to go through that again. The heartache just isn't worth it.

Sorry for your loss. I understand as I feel like you. I've lost someone close to me and live with the pain every day. No one understands grief until they lose someone they love.

I've not been through what you're experiencing, just sending hugs.

I am so sorry for your losses

Do you have grief support in your area? I tried three different groups in my area. It helped. The hospital social worker told me about one, a friend told me about one at a nearby church, and I found the third one by online search. I hope you have something like this where you are.

Most of the young widows lost their spouse to cancer that I met. I lost mine too to cancer.

I am sorry for the losses you have faced. That must be heart wrenching to go through.

Feel free to reply or pm me. I lost my dad a year ago and my heart still aches only less.

I lost my second husband too. It's been 3.5 years and since he died i feel so utterly alone. We have grown children as well as Grandchildren and they are too busy for me. Trying to change how my brain thinks...as I feel there is no one who cares about me at all. Being a widow means you lose everything for me.

shelda, sorry for your loss. Words do not express how difficult that must be.

Here is an article that may be of interest
