Three months ago, she suddenly passed away. She's been an alcoholic my whole life. She was in liver failure for 4 years, and I knew the end was coming. I just didn't expect it to be so sudden and quick. I was talking to her the entire day. She was awake and still acting like her normal self. Walking, taking, eating... The norm. Then suddenly she started having trouble breathing. I called emergency services, and she was gone before they got her to the hospital. I do not know how to feel.

I recall replying to your introductory post. May I share with you my personal favorite among all of the articles on grief & loss in PC's archives? Here's a link:

So sorry, losing a parent is hard no matter what.

Hi secondfaitb. Welcome to Psych Central. I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. That must be rough to go through losing her so quickly. These articles that are listed on this page would be of interest.

Hi, how are you doing today? I'm sorry for your loss. There are no words that can make this any easier, sometimes we don't need to hear all the "I'm sorries", sometimes we just need a long hug & a shoulder to cry on. I lost my mom(who was also my best friend) in June of 2018, & there are nights I just hold my son & cry, or when I really miss her, I go for a walk in the woods & I will talk to her, I have some of her ashes in a necklace that I wear all the time, & it helps me feel a little bit closer to her. When my mom passed, I was in so much shock that I showed no emotion at all, because it didn't seem real to me, but when it did, I locked myself in my bathroom(to be away from everyone in the house) & I cried for 3 hours straight, & it helped a little bit to cry. To this day every once in a while I still cry for her. I take one day at a time.
