A close friend of mine committed suicide on Sun., and I found out yesterday. I'm stunned and incredibly saddened.
We had a lot in common. We were both alcoholics who really struggled with sobriety on top of having mental health issues. I knew she'd been struggling due to a recent relapse with alcohol, but she'd managed to get 18 days sober again and was pretty upbeat the last time I heard from her. Then boom, this. I just wished she'd confided in me, how badly she was really feeling. splitimage |

Losing a loved one to suicide is a very harsh type of grief. I am so, so sorry for your loss.

Thank you all for your support. It means a lot to me. I'm lucky my IRL friends have all also been incredibly supportive.
Her funeral was yesterday, and I went and cried a lot. But it helped. I'm still sad, but it's not as overwhelming. splitimage |

I lost someone and the grief was bad leading up to that, but after the funeral more grief came out and I was much more emotional than usual. I had to go to support groups because IRL people just started the "they are gone, move on" which was no help at all. At least in the support group for Loss and Grief people all there knew what grief was from experience and they did not try to pretend it was not there. @CANDC __________________ Super Moderator Community Support Team "Things Take Time" |
