Dear mother,
Today, one year to the day since you've gone away
One whole year since you left us,
With no return
For one whole year
We were trying to exist in a world
that doesn't contain you,
Trying to survive in a very big world that doesn't hold you within anymore
Time flows,
Like a fast water in the stream
Fast water that doesn't wait nobody
But not for me
For me time has stopped rolling
Since you've been gone
Time for me slowed down,
Was so heavy...
Like a building on my heart
And my heart is sad and tired
Dear mother,
Since you've been gone
Too many suns went down behind that far hills
And too many moons visited my sky
I have been watching them all
Counting them all
Moon by moon
And sun by sun
I saw everything beautiful in this universe
That god has ever created
Only you!
I haven't seen you anymore!
Since the day you have been gone,
You melted away like the snow
You leaked between our fingers and arms
Like a dew drop
Like a slight breeze in the air
In that morning
Before we even realize
Dear mother,
Nothing can fill up that emptiness
That you left behind you
inside us and around us...
All I have is my words for you
And i hope you can hear them
Every night I told
The white prayers inside the walls
I told all the candlelights
Around me
To tell you
How much I miss you
I told them to send
My strongest longings for you
Please tell me mom
Did you receive them?
I'm sitting alone besides your empty place
On our park chair
Trying to remember every word you said to me,
Every laugh u made
Even when you were silent
I felt your hugs
And i felt your tenderness in this world for me
Today,
I'm staying alone here
Time flows
As fast as the wind blowing
And going beyond and surpassing everything
Pushing everybody forwards
And leaving me here alone
Behind everybody
In the train station
Waiting for you...
And I know that I will never see you
Time flows
As fast as the water in the stream
Everything is moving and keeps changing...
The landmarks of life are changing
All these coming and leaving people
In the station are changing too
Except me
And your memory in my heart
We are going nowhere
I want you to make sure of that
One whole year
Dear mother
Only today I finally realized
That some souls aren't meant
To stay with us
down here
Some souls are meant to be in a better place
And deserve to live
Somewhere over the clouds and stars
Forgive me mother
For all the unspoken words of my love for you
That I couldn't tell you before
I love you mother
We will never forget you
R.I.P

@Vanaheimr thank you so much for sharing this poem. I am sorry for the loss of your mother you feel so deeply. That must be so difficult to cope with.

You really have a talent for expressing emotions in words. You are very poetic. I found when I had intense emotions, that poetry gave me an outlet for that, unlike regular prose. Keep writing about other topics as well. I found that part of grieving is letting go and that is not easy when we focus on our loss every day. Sometimes I even forget the sadness I feel at the loss of parents. But it seems to be there, but I focus on other things now and reinvent myself in new ways.

Hope you get the support you need.

Thank you for having feelings inside you @CANDC
Coz without feelings, everything we do is going to be born dead without soul! Reading without feelings, writing without feelings, singing without feelings,
Helping others without feelings...all this is going to be meaningless and lifeless!
I hope that my poem found its way to your spirit to your grieve, and showed u hope even through a tiny aperture, overcoming a loss especially the loss of parents isn't that easy, but isn't that impossible, you and me and everybody all we still got to do is to learn coexisting peacefully with the loss as long as it has become part of us and part of of our lives.
Thanks again for passing by. and for the sweet words of supports and compliments I do really consider it and this is encouraging.
I hope you overcome the pain of your loss.

What a great tribute to your mum!!!
Very touchy and poetic.
You expressed in a beautiful and strong way thr love you have for your mum and the void she unluckily left behind.

Rest in peace, Latifa, pure soul
Loved by her sons, loved by all.

Yes when the outer appearance disappears that love appears to disappear, but love is still alive within us as you well know.

But the more I think about it, parents plant the seed of love inside us and it grows and becomes a mighty sequoia tree. That takes time and it is not always easy to see the inner growth. Part of what comforts me in the loss of my dad almost 4 years ago, was that he planted the seeds inside of me and they have been growing all my life. I was fortunate that he lived till almost 90 and when he left I was pleasantly surprised to find what I thought was outside was also growing inside.

@CANDC I'm sorry for your loss, obviously from your words you seem trying to cope with departure of your dad, as I'm doing everyday,
My mother has passed away and she only was 55 years old!! some days I feel that I'm coexisting peacefully with my mother's loss, but in some events and feasts I miss her more than anytime, everybody is around happy, music, laughs, lights, decorations, but I still feel like someone is missed,
As you said parents planted seeds inside us,
They gave us too much to remember, they planted and printed so many beautiful things inside us that have become part of us, just like their disappearance has become part of us and part of our lives, and we can do nothing to change it.
I'm really sorry for your loss ,what happened was unfortunately inevitable, we've got to live with that wound.

@Vanaheimr wow 55 is so young to die. That must be tough to cope with.

Some people I know did things to celebrate or memorialize their loved one. I think what that points out is we can start to express the gratitude we feel for their life and celebrate all they gave us. There will be tears but also laughter.

Today I was thinking of part of my life that I can never revisit. But these words came to mind "Those were good times." It seemed so obvious and simple but somehow it started to reassure me. I guess we will have to let go of everything eventually but by expressing appreciation now, I may be ready to face leaving when my time arrives by accepting the good times and the bad. It seems like life is that way.

Yes she was young to die, she had plans, I had a plan in which she was a part of it, but death came along sooner and was quicker than us.
U know what! I'm experiencing the same with u about having moments thinking about the past, it keeps reproducing often times, in psychology this phenomenon Is natural and it is called the "Flashback".sometimes we feel sad sometimes happy....it depends on what kind of scenes from the past u are experiencing.
As u said we can turn that grieve into something beautiful and colorful by expressing gratitude of all the moments we had with them, by accepting, kinda reconciliation or something, bury the hatchet,
But I don't wanna think about my leaving time,
we all finally are going to handle it, some people they are already handling it, like u are doing, I don't know why u are thinking about it, hope it is not caused by a deteriorating mental state,
I know what happened wasn't easy, but expressing the gratitude hopefully will create the balance between the loss in one Side and the acceptance and peace in the other side,
@CANDC Thank you very much for this estimable contribution.
I'll pray for us.

Sorry to mention the future. I do not think much of the future aside from planning so I am prepared and so I can set goals. The present is where I try to spend more of my time. There is a video author that helps me deal with grief and letting go. If interested, here are a couple links
Mindful Acceptance

Follow Your Breath, not your thoughts.

You are much younger than me. I am older than your mom so for me the future includes planning what I want to accomplish with the rest of my life. You are young but we both have this life in front of us and I want to make the best use of it that I can.

With my dad I had to accept all the things he taught me and shared with me. They have helped me a lot to manage life. I also had to accept the things where we disagreed although I still feel the same, what is the point of holding onto differences? He and I both did the best we could.. I am accepting that now and it helps me move on with life with less regret or sorrow.

Thank you for your prayers. I have silent prayer times where I listen. I will keep you in my silent prayers.

The both links that you shared are very interesting! Made by that psychotherapist, I like the way he was interpreting and treating the topic, no music, no sound effects no visional ones, to avoid any sort of distraction from the listener,...I saw his face expression and his breathing he was calm and clear minded and he transmitted that state of mind to me!! Physicians say that the shortest distance between two points in the space is the straight line,
And that psychotherapist was short and direct.
Yes as he said Acceptance it doesn't mean necessarily surrendering to what's happening in the moment
it is the approval and not struggling against reality that we can't change
I need to accept, coz swimming upstream is exhausting and pointless, you can keep running in ur room but u ain't going anywhere...in the same time I need to forgive myself and to purge my soul of the feeling of guilt to have done things with my mother, I wasn't the best son in this world,
You made a good point the one about accepting things where u and ur dad disagreed, this is beautiful,
@CANDC Thank you for the links, and I'm very grateful for your silent prayers in which i will be always within. This is very encouraging and very reassuring.
