I remember that person who chose to attack me for opening up to them
They talked about the “great things” they did while attacking, and accusing me of negative traits which I never even said
That left me with a great scorn towards self-improvement, as it seems to me it’s something people shove in other’s faces to say “look how much I’m improving compared to you!”

It seems to me like a concept transmitted with a more obligatory intent behind it, instead of some bonus to life

Help me figure this concept out in a more healthy way

I don’t know because I don’t know what was said. Maybe you could ditch the concept of self “improvement” if that causes you to feel broken in some way. Maybe substitute self “care” or personal growth.

The thing is, I actually want to... do things I want to do
That's growth for me. However, I have a problem with a drive and encouragement
Some people in life have others to encourage their goals in life. I have no one, and with all the effort it would take I could use people to encourage each other in pursuing such goals.
Say you want to be a successful artist. You want people with a shared purpose to encourage each other in pursuing your goals
I have no friends to encourage me. One "friend" even discouraged me

What goals do you want to do? I am an artist and I take an art class twice a week. I love being with the like minded people who support and encouragement me. (some of my art is on my profile page).

Yes, I saw one of them, how could you not remember?
I don’t perform art as a hobby, but I prefer to perform music as a hobby
