TIme Restricted Eating. What a novel idea my psychiatrist told me about when he responded to my question about diet and eating habits. The sicence sounds right to me.

Basically it means restricting one's window of eating to 10-11hrs. This means the period between consuming your first calorie of the day to the last For example, if I finish my dinner and last food or drink of the evening at 6:00pm then I shouldn't start my caloric intake (ie. creamed coffee) before 8:00am. He gave me some reference material to read and listen to on the subject and told me that my eating period is far more important than what the calories are themselves. Learn a new eating pattern first he said, then we will talk appropriate diet.

Interesting.

But wouldn't that mean you should eat as early as 6am ?

I do intermittent fasting too. I do the 8/16 kind. I stop eating at 5:30PM and I don’t eat again until 9:30AM. It’s worked really well for my weight management.

I did it during the summer. I was doing it to lose weight. It didn't work. The big thing about it is called autophagy. Basically it is your body eating yourself. It has proven amazing health benefits.

I am trying a different type -- 3 weeks reduced calorie... followed by two weeks maintenance. It is a different kind of fasting. The hope is I will lose weight without messing up the metabolism.
