Question Anyone Experience Tinnitus?

The past several days I've had an almost constant sound in my head I can hear. I checked my tv, computer and other "appliances" around the apt. and turned them all off and can still hear this noise. Then I went in the bathroom and closed the door and can still hear this noise. I even went out in the hallway where there is no noise (outside of my apartment) and could hear it. It is the same noise constantly like crickets almost. It's hard to describe. The minute I thought I had Tinnitus I started focusing on it more and more. I couldn't sleep last night thinking about it and listening to it. I did a search on the subject and see there are various things you can do and some have it very bad.

Yes, mine has a kicker to it.. I seem to only notice it in the winter. My guesses are two fold.
(1) something to do with my heating system that is a heat pump so it is on most of the time, I believe even once it shuts off my ear might be suffering from somehow keeping the noise going but if say it was off for 4 hours my ear might not keep doing that. It goes on about every 30 minutes just the way it is.
and or
(2) something to do with dry air or dehydration.

Try making sure your hydrated.

You might try a fan *white noise* to keep from it bothering you. That works for me. Also sometimes I leave the tv on low but low enough to mask it.

Yes I have tinnitus along with Meniere's disease. What I hear is a constant whistling sort of sound. It's not terrible. (I've had TERRIBLE too!) Over time I've simply gotten used to it. I really don't pay much attention to it for the most part anymore. Back when it was TERRIBLE my pdoc put me on Klonopin & that helped bring it back down to a tolerable level. I see different ads on the internet for things you can supposedly do for it. I'm skeptical. I think most of that is just a way for someone to try to rifle your wallet. I hope you are able to find a solution for what you are hearing.

Iíve never been diagnosed but I think I have tinnitus and I also think Iím hard of hearing as well.

yesterday I was watching American Idol and someone was singing so badly I could feel something happen to my ears and I think it was tinnitus. Her singing just kind of like blew through one ear and into the other. It felt werid and actually felt quite painful. My hearing is getting me into trouble as well at work because Iím hearing things that are not being said. so Iíll probably end up seeing a doctor.

It is very dry in my apt. as well. I am drinking water but not enough I suppose. Going to drink more. I do keep a fan on. Yesterday I didn't notice it and not today either. The other day though it was bothersome. Thanks for your reply.

I'm glad yours is not bothering you as much now. My brother has it pretty bad. Yes, people are always trying to get us to buy something for these problems and I don't have any to spend anyways. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your reply. Have you done any reading on Tinnitus?
