For awhile now maybe a few years I had always thought that my ears needed syringing so I made an appointment to see my doctor and when she looked my ears were clear so she referred me to a audiologist in which I went to see yesterday and he did an hearing test and said that I need hearing aids in both ears, he said it is unusual for a person at my age (48) to have this kind of hearing loss.
I have numerous health problems already and I am seeing my doctor this afternoon she says that I need referring back to a neurologist. |

Thanks for sharing your circumstances. Personally I think I hear pretty well for my age (71!) I do have tinnitus though. If I went to an audiologist, they'd probably tell me I need hearing aids too though. Best wishes with regard to your numerous health problems. By the way, you mentioned possibly seeing a neurologist. Are you familiar with Psych Central's sister website: NeuroTalk? Here's a link:

That is a big young. Hearing loss runs in my mother's family and I have hearing aids. I got them in my late 50's, as I recall. At least we have hearing aids these days that work well.

What kind of hearing loss is it?
I’ve worn hearing aids since I was six. You do get used to them, and they improve constantly now that they’re digital and not analog. |
