I was told to do this as I wear my small muscles too much, being hypermobile and possibly EDS.

They said look it up on Youtube. I don't really found stuff I should do and can do at home. It's like no one knows their muscles.

Does anyone know about exercises like these? Or have a sane Youtube link? A lot of my pain seems to be from unstable joints and from overusing small muscle.

Also I need to start small or I will lose interest.

I am such a slug, that just sitting back in my chair or lying in bed, i tighten my abs for like 5 seconds, then release. And i cant even remember to be consistent with that much.

I know this sounds really dumb but, can you describe it? I sort of lack body awareness a lot.

Btw, thanx for replying, it is the first reply I got in this matter ever! I first tried in an exercise/work out/gym subforum at another site. You think all those experts could even say what you said? Nope. They seemed clueless! I guess they just go to the gym and use the machines without knowing what they do.

Sort of like you were gonna do a sit-up, but dont go anywhere. Or Kegel exercises for your belly. Suck your bellybutton back to your spinal cord, squeeze your left and right side abs in towards the middle line of your six-pack, pull your diaphragm area tight. I do all this in bed, or lying back in a chair with my feet up, my stomach flat out in front of me.

Pelvic Lift.

It's really hard at first, but is helpful.

Lie flat on your back with your knees bent like you would for a sit up.

Try to lift your butt off the floor be contracting your abdominal muscles. You won't get far at first, but the goal is to be able to completely lift your butt off the floor so that really only your upper back and shoulders are on the floor, and you're forming a triangle with your legs, butt, and lower back.

That one can be done in bed.

If i could get down on the floor and up again, i wouldnt need to do exercises.

OTOH, if i had been doing exercises, i COULD get down on the floor and up again!

Thanx for explaining. You guys are cool, you don't diss me cuz I don't understand at first.

I wish someone told me all this as a teen instead of nagging me of standing straight. I didn't have muscle enough to not slouch. I needed exercises, not nagging. Nagging didn't help me keep myself together, I had looser joints than today, and a very "relaxed" body. I'm not really bitter, cuz I realize they didn't have the knowledge. It's simply a sort of wish. Unfortunately, because I didn't have exercises, I only kept one vertebrae at hyperflexible and the others got stiff with age. So I can't stand totally upright and I can only bend in one place even if it is so far down I can do with straight legs and I can put my elbows on the floor.

Even if it was before its time, my bro got home physio as a small child cuz my dad happened to know a guy who was working with that so they had a sort of program with him. I didn't show many symptoms that early age. But he walked on his toes, never crawled and had terrible motor skills. He was the opposite though, he was very stiff.

So I'm glad one of us got help, even before it was a thing. He now plays sports and runs and all that. I doubt he would have without the training he had as a 1-2 year old.

I just started doing “ Planking”

Lie on the ground ...lift legs off the ground by being on your toes. Then lift upper body with bent elbows and just hold yourself in place as long as your can.

Sounds simple right??? Arghhh it’s freaking hard but it works all your core muscles at once.

I think I will get there when I get better muscle strength in general, LOL. I lost some while I had severe anemia and couldn't move around much.

I googled this too, to find some obese planking.

One was basically leaning against the wall. Hey, its harder than it looks!

Why didnt i listen when they said, "use it or lose it"? I thought they just meant sex! for boys!
