I went to the ER on Wednesday and my internal organs are ok but I am incredibly constipated. I also think I may have a food allergy possibly dairy. I can hardly eat anything though. I feel like I have medical anorexia. Every time I eat or drink anything I feel very sick I’ve been feeling like this since Sunday. I see my GP on Wednesday but I’m just wondering how I can get food in until then. Today I’ve had about 750 calories and 510 of that was in food. I read a little bit online and it says to eat your favorite foods but literally nothing sounds good at all. Does anyone have any suggestions? This is really making me nervous.

As someone who has anorexia when I’m bad , I have to just take a bite of food a couple times an hour. The little fruit cups of applesauce once took me 5 hours , but just small bite after bite.

When my bowels sometimes stop moving (that happens sometimes from pain med), I force feed myself with sweet candy made with sorbitol or maltitol. That usually gets the bowel moving again.

As for you, I feel nothing is my favorite food. It's like choosing from different types of cardboard. But I noticed some foods are easier than other to eat. I am lucky not to feel really sick after eating, but it is like, why did I eat when it made me feel worse and I wasn't at all hungry?

Luckily I do tolerate milk well so I can eat yogurt and rice pudding.

But oddly what my body reacts the best to, is somewhat spicy vegan food, like dhal with fresh hot pepper, fresh ginger and fresh garlic. It also feels nice to eat once I start. I would think spicy food would make me feel weirder but no. I don't understand our bodies' reactions sometimes.

I recommend protein shakes. If you have a dairy issue you can use almond milk.

If you’re constipated, that’s probably why it’s hard to eat. You’re backed up. You can try some blueberries and other fruits to try to get things moving. If that fails, you can try coffee or flaxseeds. Also sugar free chocolate can do wonders to get a system moving again. If all that fails you, you can try an over the counter stool softener or over the counter laxative to get things moving again. Once you’re not back up-your appetite will come back.

Can you drink something? There are protein shakes, milkshakes, etc. that can be good for you and tasty.

But, yes, get yourself unclogged, too!

It’s been better lately. I got my constipation under control and my nausea has gotten better. I’ve gotten my appetite back although today I was just too lazy to actually fix an actual meal. I had a small sandwich around 4:30. But then it just kept getting later and later and I just didn’t feel like cooking. I’m hungry though. Just lazy. But yeah it’s better. Thanks for the replies.
