i just had a blood draw done at a lab. the phlebotomist seemed like such a miserable person. she never smiled and was very curt. i guess i have read too many stories about rogue medical personnel intentionally causing harm to patients so i was imagining all kinds of things. what if she used a contaminated needle? my gut was telling me to get out of there. i tried to watch her to make sure she used everything sterile but i don't remember seeing her unpack a new needle. but this was the third clinic i had tried today and i had to walk all over and i was tired and hot. the first lab wouldn't do the test because the ordering doctor was not on their list. the second lab wouldn't do it because they were not equipped to take payments (i don't have health insurance and have to pay out of pocket)...so they sent me to an affiliate lab.. i hope i am just being paranoid and that that phlebotomist was not some kind of psycho. she did not have the exact change for my payment but she was adamant about giving me back what was due me and she paid fifty cents out of her own pocket so i could get the correct change back. i hope that one gesture means she is diligent and that my fears are irrational. sorry, just had to vent.

Bless your heart, that sounds like an ordeal to go through. I hope it does turn out well too! And idea when you'll get the results?

i got the results today. am waiting to talk things through with the doctor. in hindsight, i should have listened to my gut and left the clinic. the nurse jabbed me without even a second of forethought and my arm is still tender today. a lesson i will try to remember.

tx for you all's concerns.
