A couple of months ago I had orders from my back doctor to undergo physical therapy for 8 weeks. It meant leaving my house twice a week in addition to my other appointments. I couldn't do it. Now I'm reconsidering. I don't have as many appointments at the moment. So maybe I can handle it. I'm just tired of not being able to walk. I'm tired of the pain. It would be nice if the physical therapy helped me.

I left a message with the nurse. Hopefully they will issue new orders. I guess I can try to think of it as a positive outing. I'll be able to talk to the physical therapist. I'll get out and get fresh air. I'll be able to drive, which is nice this time of year. I could always stop somewhere after physical therapy to do something fun like go out to eat. Just trying to be positive about it.

Does anyone else have to leave their house a lot for appointments? How do you manage?

I always have lots of appointments having had recent surgeries and chronic pain issues. I dont mind most days and pt helped with my shoulder surgeries. My husband has back issues and ended up having ablasion. Prior to that he had to undergo 6 weeks of pt that did nothing but make him hurt more. I am unsure why people with back issues are told that pt should be tried if it hurts them but I suppose their must be a reason.

I'm not sure why either. I tried PT for my back at the beginning of the year. That made my back pain worse too. But I have a new doctor now and I figure I have to go through this in order to get the help I need. I imagine that I will need an injection to really get help but they don't offer that as a first treatment.

Next week I see the physical therapist. I have one other appointment too with my GP. I'm a little nervous about 2 appointments. But I will try to make the best of it. Thanks for sharing.

So sorry to hear than you are unable to walk and having back pain. I am always on the go. It's good to get that body moving. I also have a gym membership. See if you can get free transportation with your health insurance. I don’t get this because I work part time. I started physical therapy over 2 weeks now. I try to go twice a week. I want to feel and get better somewhat so low impact workout is good for me.

I also join an online chronic pain support group name mychronicpainteam. This support group helps a whole lot. It sounds like you need to talk to a social worker or therapist for motivational support. Be well!

I start PT next week. It's during a week where I have no other appointments. So I know I'll be able to make it. The following weeks are free too. So I should be able to go twice a week. I hope it all works out Okay. Part of me wants to cancel the PT. I know I need it... I just don't want to leave my house for it. I have a therapist I work with. No matter what, I can't seem to leave the house very well. Therapy doesn't help with that. I've tried for 2 years.

I hope your PT goes well.

I have trouble making doc appts, esp. back to back. Everyone differs, but I like to schedule appts on the same day because I am exhausted the day after, regardless if I had one or more appts. But some people like to spread them out.

I hope you recover well, and get well soon! (((safe hugs)))
