Yesterday I went for a 5+ hour walk, most of which was pretty casually paced but I sort of remember maybe 1 or 2 short bouts where I possibly may have overdid it a tad bit, considering I've been glued to my bed 24/7 for the past few months and that was my first time getting any real exercise in a while.
So today I am of course very sore, but the most painful areas are places I've never felt sore in from exercise - the area between the top of my outer right thigh and side of my hip (which felt kind of swollen when I pressed on it), and in the outside of my right butt cheek. The pain is more of a sort of 'sharp' cramp-like ache, and I'm just wondering if it's anything I should really be concerned about like a pulled or torn muscle or something. __________________ |

How far did you go? 5 hours is a very long time to be on your feet when you have been sedentary for months prior. It is not surprising that you are sore. I used to ride my bike about 100 miles per week. When I upped that to 160, I suddenly became incredibly sore, even though I am in good shape.
I think you just overdid it. Maybe some gentle quad and IT band stretches might help. You can google it and see which ones you want to try. I would def take several days off walking like that. About the only serious thing I might worry about is called rhabdo, and as long as your urine is its usual color, you are probably fine. You can also google rhabdomyolysis and see what you think. It does not sound like you have it. __________________ When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them--Rodney Dangerfield |

Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure exactly how far, I just checked Google maps and according to the scale measuring the areas I walked around I'd say maybe a total of a little over ~3-3.5 miles. Not all at once though, I'd say probably at least a good ~40% of the time I was sitting and resting.
