Hi,
I wrote this in the women's section but I'm going to try here. Background history (briefly) Been having pains in my head.... my whole head (forehead killing me, base of skull throbbing and pulsating then travelling up my head). When I lie down in bed on a pillow my head pulses and throws continuously and hurts when I lie on my back and either side I couldn't lift my head off the pillow without excruciating pain. Pain is affecting my eyes and I wear glasses Been feeling sick continuously Been continuously dizzy Blur vision since 5th High blood pressure (it's been sitting at anything from 171 over 103 up to 201 over 170) I eventually ended up at hospital last Wed. Due to the fact when I finally got an emergency appt to see a GP my blood pressure was sitting at 196/123. It was straight to hospital for me. I got tests they really did a lot for me (blood pressure took continuously throughout the 6.5 hours I was in. Sitting/standing and lying down. Blood tests done. Urine samples x 2. Heart rate and temperature took continuously. ECG. I was given a physical too. Eventually I was given a CT scan Results I have a small lesion on my brain. I need to have an MRI scan as an outpatient as it's not serious. If this doesn't show anything. I will need a lumbar puncture and to see a Neurologist. I need to get a blood pressure home monitoring machine which I had for 5 days and they will be assessed as I see a GP on Mon (10th). I need to do another urine test on Mon too. Me I'm really worried as I know I probably shouldn't have googled it but I need to know what's going on. It says the lesion on the brain can be MS, a tumour both serious and benign a few other things too. My issue is I live alone and my family history consists of high blood pressure, stroke and heart attack. Any thoughts or wise words of wisdom. I'm pretty scared. I've only just turned 35. My head is all the what if's. |

Hi Miss Laura,
I am so sorry that you are going through this ordeal. If it was me, I would be so scared. I may be wrong, but I think that when one is dealing with potentially or actually serious medical conditions, that one ought to seek a 2nd or even 3rd medical opinion before proceeding. Since I am not a doctor or medical professional, that is just my opinion. I hope you will get many helpful responses to your post. It is really heartbreaking what you are enduring right now. So sorry I cannot be more helpful to you. My heart goes out to you! |

Thank you, I'm really annoyed as a so called friend has literally said it's nothing major. Seriously. Am I talking to a brick wall. I pretty much went mental at her. I told her this could potentially be serious. My symptoms can be related to a number of things including MS, benign and non benign cancers, heart attacks and strokes.
I currently am awaiting I think meds for my blood pressure I'm guessing I'll be put on them as it's so high. But until then I'm in limbo. I at high risk for heart attacks and strokes. The fact it runs in my immediate family I'm really scared. I'm seeing my GP on Monday so hopefully he can clarify things. I'm experiencing more pins and needles now in my left foot and my right fingers. Also I have shooting pains in my legs from my knees down and both my arms. |
