Does anyone have any experience with meal plans like nutri system, Jenny Craig, and Seattle Sutton? I just ordered Seattle Sutton today. I am trying the one time kind. To see if I like it. I got the 1200 calorie a day 21 meal a week kind. It was $167 for just one week but nutrisystem was $800 a month and you had to buy the whole month at one time. I am at a loss on how to lose weight and this is my next step.

A long time ago (over 14 years ago) I tried Jenny Craig. It was all well and good when I ate their food but the minute I stopped the pre-prepared meals the weight went back on. I ended up with gastric bypass which saved my life but thats another story.

Never heard of Seattle Sutton. I did Jenny Craig once. It was horrible. I could not keep up with the insane supplement and fruit and veggie demands on top of the food which wasn't that good.

My recommendation is to look at HMR. Health Management Resources. I did their decision free diet. I lost weight but I was too aggressive and ended up "Biggest Loser" stuck. But at least you know you are eating a certain amount. The food was good. I have also heard good things about medifast.

I feel you could be throwing money away though. If your body won't lose on 1200 cals.. it is telling you it won't lose on 1200 cals. Drop the cals back to 1000 cals and see if you lose. That is what I must eat to lose weight (perhaps a big less).

No matter what food you eat -- if you eat too much you won't lose.

Have no experience of either, probably because I'm in the UK. Tried WW many years ago.

Please excuse my rather cynical view of these diet plans. We all have different metabolic rates which affect our weight. Some of us can exercise, others can't possibly for medical reasons. Yet many people go into these plans with high expectations and great disappointment when they don't achieve an impossible target weight. Personally, I'm not impressed by some foods being a "sin" (Slimming World). No one should ever be made to feel guilty about that piece of cake or chocolate bar.

Good luck with your weight loss. I hope you find a plan that works for you. It's amazing how drinking more water can fill you up and there's no calories too!

Not to be obnoxious, but I'd like to chime in to say that it is not usually advisable to eat under 1200 calories per day, as that can have detrimental effects and your body may start using muscle instead of fat for fuel. I don't know your exact situation or what you are dealing with, but if you are able to do any exercise and eat slightly more calories, that will not only have benefits for your body systems, but will probably also help rev your metabolism, if that is what you are trying to do. You can find calculators online that will help you figure out how many calories are right for your weight loss goals and the amount of activity you do every day. If you don't find the delivered meal plans affordable, you can also use apps like My Fitness Pal or Cronometer to count calories and just plan out your meals a little bit in advance or have several favorite meals that you know the calorie counts of and can utilize regularly. Again, I don't know your situation or how much time or money you have, but if you have more time than money you can also always plan out a full week's worth of meals at the proper caloric intake and then meal prep everything and throw it in the fridge or freezer so it's similar to a meal delivery service, if that's what seems to work best for you. Nutrisystem shakes ARE actually very chocolatey and very thick and filling. More than any other shake ive ever had. That was surprising to me. But it wasnt good that they sent me a bunch of little sweets - those all got eaten first thing. This was a couple of years ago.
