i just want to get some thoughts on this, see how others would act/react faced with the same situation.

so you've been 'adjusting' to the tele-medicine video appts that clinics have been using the past few months due to the virus pandemic. and lately most providers are doing 'in-clinic' appts again. but your one local physician STILL is not seeing patients face-to-face, due to personal safety reasons i guess. and so far, you've been 'adapting' to that, trying to be flexible yet understanding.

but now you're at a point where you "NEED" to be physically examined by the doctor -> as in 'this spot hurts' and 'feel this' and more. you need THAT kind of doctors appt to figure out what is going on and talk things thru (like they physically touch/check things as the appt goes along). if this physician will not be available for another month or so for the kind of appt you need, what do you do???

they are the only local physician you have/trust. yet so far, they haven't provided the names of other doctors for you to potentially see. do you wait it out 'for them' and hope nothing happens in the meantime?
you tried another physician at a different facility (a farther drive away), TRYING to possibly create another physician (like for cases like this) but they were even worse. [that's a story for another time] which means that option is out the window.

massive trust issues are involved here, especially since it involves medical issues & records. so how would you handle a situation like this if you or your loved one was in it????

[this is something i would have normally run by my aunt, who would've said things like 'this is what i would do' and 'dear, you should probably do this' and maybe even 'why have you waited this long'. :'') but i can't anymore and at times just feel lost, ya know.....]

Well... I don't know. Actually I just recently received a letter from the clinic I used to go to saying the doctor I saw has left. (He was an older man. So he may well have retired.) In the letter, the clinic provided me with a list of names of doctors they thought I might want to consider seeing. None of them struck me as being anyone I would want to see. So I may well find myself, sooner or later, in a situation similar to what you describe. (And I have plenty of trust issues of my own.)

I guess, as far as what I would do in the situation you describe, really would depend on how serious I thought the condition I was dealing with was. (I'm actually waiting to see a new dentist at the moment. And I do have some problems that need attention. But their not so serious that I feel I can't wait.) But if I thought the condition I was concerned about was serious, I guess I would just hold my nose, so to speak, pluck up the courage to see a new doc, & see how it went. Seeing doctors is always a step into the unknown. I've had some bad experiences along the way. But, sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do. Best wishes...

I'm in roughly the same situation. My gp physically closed her practice back in mid March, and has been doing telephone/video appointments since then.

The government has said non-emergency appointments can resume, but my Dr. still isn't seeing patients in person.

But they have one Dr. that is seeing patients live, if she feel you need to be seen for something that can't be done remotely.

So far I've been ok with it. She just emails any requisitions like for blood work, mammogram etc. and I e-mail them to the relevant clinic when I go in.

For now I'm ok with this.

Demand it. I bad a back issue in May and the stupid girl on the phone wanted to set up a telephone appointment. I said, "no" I want an in person appointment. Suddenly my doctor became "available."

well, i don't know how serious it is - though i have a few ideas in my head. and i hear you on the dentist thing -> i'm in the same boat. i called two new places, only to find out they don't take my insurance, so that made things a tad harder.

anyways.... how serious, i don't know. what i do know is that i've started in with at least 2 new symptoms just in the past week and a half. i doubt that is a good thing

i managed to convince myself that if things were making me nervous, it was time to get the ball rolling with the doctors.

so i now have two doctor appts next week. the first one is on monday, with a local general physician. figured it would be okay to start there - see what happens i guess
the second is on tuesday, with my 'back doctor' - since i'm now having symptoms in my arms, which could or could not be from my neck. they may want an updated MRI...

I think it depends on the outcome. Say its a pain issue and you would need something, even short term that your regular doctor who knows you would have no problem with...would a new doc roll with that? Probably not. I am not saying this is what you need or that its good or bad but at the office I go to I will only see a few of the doctors because I can walk in there they will look at my past and see something that another doc has done thats worked and wont yank me around trying something else, or deemed "less dangerous".
For example I have chronic pain issues and am prescribed 1 pain pill a day to be taken in halves. This is for acute agony type pain. If Injure myself I cant take those half pills for anything other than what they are prescribed for and I can take more than one a day. So like when I got a steam burn on my arm, because I cant take NSAIDS I went to my primary and told them the situation which they know, I told them that I wanted 2-3 days of Tylenol 3 and that was that. But only because they know me, and only because they have access to my records and sent a note to the doctor that handles my pain issues. I guess Im long winded about this.

neither one of those two appts were very helpful -> the one basically did nothing.

i was thinking to myself that maybe a new doc at a different place is what i need right now - you know, a fresh set of eyes, focused on what's happening now.

i had picked the facility and was ready to call yesterday, and then didn't. now today - i'm talking myself OUT of it. as in the, 'maybe it's not what you think' or 'things will go away on its own' or 'don't want to make any waves' or whatever. s**t man

that's just the anxiety & d talking, isn't it?? cuz some symptoms have been there for 1-3 months. so if nothing else, i should do the appt to be on the safe side, right?!
am i losing it?!?!
