At the beginning of this month, I went really overboard on SH like I did about 4 years ago and was put on a 72 hr hold and had emergency surgery. After I was medically cleared, the hospital psychiatrist dropped the hold and I was released. I ended up back in the hospital a week later with a surgical site infection and stayed for a few more days. The drs there and my pcp both asked several times during that stay if I needed IP treatment again. I declined and talked to my therapists. Both agreed that IP is more for acute crisis not constant stress like what I have.

That said
Possible trigger:
I have told my Ts that I've messed with it but haven't told them how bad it actually is. And I haven't sought treatment or told my Ts the full truth because my husband keeps saying how we can't afford him to miss work because of what I did and I'm afraid that I'll automatically get put in IP if I see my dr about it...thats exactly what happened last time 4 years ago. I'm just at a complete loss.

I think like your T's that IP is for acute crises but it sounds like you may need to go to the hospital to have your wound checked out. It doesn't sound like it would end up with you in IP but one can never be sure. I would encourage you to try to tell your T's the whole truth so they can help you the best they can.

I don't know that going IP will help with the SH, but it sounds like your wound needs care. Can you go IP without your H missing work?

No, he can't unfortunately. We have 4 kids that I stay home to watch, so without me he's the only one who is able to watch them.

Can you get your wound cared for without going IP? Is it healing?

I can call my doctor and make an appointment to be seen about the wound, but that's what I'm afraid of is having her see it and put me on a hold. And no it's not healing. I just need to bite the bullet and get it checked out though and go from there.

I have an appointment on Monday with my doctor about the wound and I'm dreading it. I'm nervous about what is going to happen.

I'm having a really difficult time this week since the appointment, but thanks for asking. The appointment was very stressful for me, and I felt like my doctor was very harsh and not empathic like she can be sometimes. She asked if she needed to put me in the hospital because I'm "a danger to myself" is what she said. And she asked if I was going to go home and SH and I declined but still ended up anyway eventually that night. She told me to go upstairs to see the general surgeon to have eyes on it as well, and said if I didn't go then "They'd hunt me down." They made a follow up appointment for this coming Tuesday and the week after with the surgeon. I tried to cancel and they called me and said that the doctor really wants to see me and never canceled them..I think they know I'm trying to avoid them.
