Hello all, hope you are having a safe and peaceful day! I just want to say something that we all need to be aware of. In the hospital here, to keep your stay as quiet as possible from others, they actually call the mental health floor by the letter of the floor below. I think that was nice. BUT. I was taken by 2 cops and a lady cop followed, because of a huge misunderstanding by the helpline I didn't even know was a helpline. Now it is nightmare upon nightmare. The driving cop seems to be the son of a lady I used to work with, awesome lady. Her brother and family live 2 doors from me. It looks like son told mom about my pickup order, she may have told brother, now the viscious, nasty neighbor seems to know, which means the man nearby who goes to the hosp occasionally himself also will know. He gossips for a living. When I went on the porch yesterday he and another neighbor stood in the yard laughing. I don't know what to do. I think I will talk to the police chief as OMH suggested. Please everyone, be aware that confidentiality is often ignored. Tell whomever takes you somewhere that they should remember you are human and please don't spread your business about. Cops may not care, though.

Love your name, Vortex. My quote shall be " If you feel bad and think things will get better, wait 1 day. It will probably be worse. So just remember the good times, they are in the past."

Hmmmm, it would be very unprofessional for the people who admitted you to talk. They would risk their jobs by doing so. I am pretty sure you have nothing to fear. Why would you think the people were laughing about you. I would try to not take these observations of yours personally. I realise that is a hard thing to do. Unless you have hard core evidence otherwise, go on the assumption however no one has a clue. Also, consider what kind of damage this would do if they did. How in the long run will this hurt you? If then, these people do in fact know and have said anything the best defence is a good offence. Hold your head up high and do your best to muster an air of confidence. Try not to play into the stigma you fear these people have.

i know from experience that confidentiality is often a joke, -especially- in mental health. personal experiences have led me to believe...a lot of the mental health professionals just want power and $$$. don't 'play by the rules,' etc., all kinds of "confidential" info -will- be shared, because its about power with many of them.

You will be okay - just don't talk to anyone you feel you can't trust.
I understand the conflict of interest and your concern because they live near you. Let them be intrusive an laugh, its a signal of their own disrespect for others and has ZERO bearing on you. Stick to yourself, those you trust, if you need emergency help and there are any red flags with the people you speak with in that arena, just tell them you cant provide them with info but you will inform a trusted professional upon hospital appearance. |

Some people are just gross in their mannerisms...they will always be that way. You learn who they are, avoid them as much as possible and live your life with decent people when you identify them.

I'm sorry about this situation, I understand where you're coming from. Confidentiality was and is still a huge problem with me too so I understand how you feel. Are you doing okay now? What ended up happening?
