I’m wondering if anyone has been to day treatment? I’ve been offered it for OCD and/or C-PTSD. What does it involve? Did you find it helpful? Thanks!

I've been to PHP( partial hospital program) and IOP ( intensive outpatient program. The PHP picked me up at home and drove me, they started with a check in group. Then there were several different groups with a lunch break. They provided lunch. The groups varied by day but everyday there was group therapy. On different days there was art therapy, recreational therapy, occupational therapy. Meetings with one to one therapist and a once a week meeting with a pdoc.
The IOP was less often 2-3 days a week. The main focus was group therapy. And some IOP's were in the evenings. I found it extremely helpful. Sometimes there's a person who tries to hog the time but they don't usually last too long so don't worry about that. The programs make sure everybody gets their needs met. __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. I've been to several variations of day treatment, and found them all helpful.
Broadly they were: 1. Post discharge from IP. These were designed to be a transition from the intense therapy of IP and going back to life. One was every day, but the others were just a few days a week. They were all based on group therapy. With two I did I also saw a pdoc once a week. 2. IOP rehab for alcohol abuse. 10 week programs, daily, with lots of different group therapy, and regular one - on - one appointments with one of the staff team. 3. Partial hospitalization program, 3 weeks of daily treatment, full days, mostly group therapy but some one on one. Because I also had an addiction, I saw an addictions counsellor daily and a pdoc once a week. Hope that helps. |

Thanks, Splitimage and Nammu. I never had much success with group therapy, but that was years ago. I’m certainly willing to give this a shot.
