If it's a hospital setting, you'll find more psychiatrists than psychologists. And as miguelsmommy said a lot of social workers.

In my experience social workers delivered most of the group therapy, and do one on one counselling as well, while the psychiatrist was responsible for managing your overall care and meds management.

In both hospitals I was in... 1 psychiatrist... a social worker or two I guess... & a bunch of others... who knows what they were if anything.

The Pdocs breeze in make judgments and assign labels and the nurses and social workers do all the work. One hospital I was at had a psychologist coming once a week but the others only had social workers. Most psychologist have there own offices and only see outpatients. There are fewer and fewer Pdocs that do hospital rounds.

At the hospital I went to there were psychiatrists and social workers. I saw the social worker twice (once at discharge) and the psychiatrist I saw every day. The other people there were therapists, like art therapists, music therapists, as well as RN's, med nurses, other nurses, and then there were student nurses who helped set up activities for us and keep an eye on us. There were also MD's and phlebotomists.

Psychiatrists were required for every patient. We met with a psychiatrist each and every day, including weekends. We did not have therapists - this was an acute care facility, so therapy wasn't provided. We did have group classes throughout the day. Some were led by social workers, some by nurses. I think one or two of the classes were led by psychologists, but it wasn't therapy - my psychoeducational. Therapy was to be done outpatient after discharge.
