Would it be possible for a non-violent person with intrusive thoughts and lack of empathy to be able to go to a mental health ward/building to see what options I can take to get my issues set out?

I would like to live the normal life I used too in spring-summer 2019, I hope it is possible as my intrusive thoughts aren't much intrusive anymore but I still want them gone and too see if I can get diagnosed or learn empathy so I don't become violent.

highly doubt it. inpatient care in mental hospitals are usually for those who are a danger to their self and others. ie violent, suicidal and such things.

given that right now the USA is dealing with a pandemic (covid19)most inpatient hospital mental wards are releasing not taking on more patients. most if not all USA states are using their emergency plans ie governors have put in place special orders and protocals that must be followed. one of those is reserving hospital settings for those with Covid 19 needing inpatient care, another is going through ones own treatment providers instead of hospitals unless serious / severe health problems. example here in NY we are told by our state officials and the president orders to not go to hospitals unless things like uncontrollable bleeding, broken bones, heart attack, to instead contact our own medical doctors for appointments by phone or video calling, then the primary care physician assesses whether hospitalization is needed.

my suggestion is contact your medical doctor. they will assess whether you need inpatient care in a mental health ward.

I don't know if it would be possible to go to the ward. But here are some suggestions I can think of. Ask your medical doctor, therapist, or psychiatrist for recommendations regarding your care. There is outpatient care, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and hospitalization. In my experience, hospitalizations are short stays to get you stable and then the work is done outside of the hospital environment, or at least in a partial hospitalization environment. You could also call the number on the back of your insurance card and see if there is a patient advocate. They can help you find resources for getting treatment usually. I hope you feel better soon. Okay, I have a counselor appointment tommorow, should I tell them about my lack of empathy in detail?

It's always best to be totally honest with counselors. That way they can really assess what the best course of treatment is for you.
