is there such a thing? are there any organizations out there that offer such a possibility?

i'm just curious. i'm currently on state insurance.... only, my state doesn't really offer residential programs for mental health. sure, there are a couple intensive inpatient, but you stay a week and that's about it. i'm tired of doing the same thing over and over again. anyway, just curious if anyone knew anything about this. i tried googling now for awhile and didn't come up with much.

thanks.

idk for sure... but do you feel that you need more intensive help, ie longer stay? i do know the social worker assigned to your case can suggest intensive outpatient care. would that be an option for you? most MI treatment places suggest this as a follow up to your week, etc. you do get individual therapy usually there too as well as group therapy.

i guess i'm not 100% sure what i need right now to be honest. if i even have a caseworker, it would be just a lot easier to arrange things myself i think. i was finally assertive enough with my therapist this morning to ask if it would be okay to see her twice a week for a bit, and she was completely okay with it. that made me feel better. and i did set up an appointment to go tour a day program place next week. which i guess is comprised of such things as: learning about your mental illness, learning about medications, help with assertiveness, anger, coping, etc. but supposedly also fun "creative" things. i think i am just longing for more human connection in a "safe" place, where people can relate, empathatize, or understand even.

the idea of being able to go to a residential, out of state program that targets specifically treatment-resistant bipolar seems almost like a dream, and i guess because it is - financially, for me i mean. so for now, i'm going to tour this place and keep working with my therapist.

good deal, imyrmonstr, that was basically what i was referring to-the outpatient treatment. in the event you ever do have to go back to a hospital site, that's when a social worker can refer you to outpatient therapy after your release. im glad it worked out for you and your T helped make it happen. there is not enough out there to help ppl...many times i feel they just stick a bandaid on it and don't treat each individual individually. just my humble opinion of course.
