I plan to move out of mom's house soon. I told her June but I'd really like to sooner if I could. I'm looking at my budget and I'm still on wait lists but the wait is forever and I'm getting fed up with being treated like a child so I'm looking into cheaper market rate. It's going to be tight, because there's added living costs with being on your own and I still am paying mom back until July now recalculated what I owe her, plus I've added credit card debt. So trying to build my credit isn't necessarily working out for me. My credit is building but my income to debt ratio is too. I know what I can afford, I just have to find it and qualify to rent it. I also know a rental place I really like but I don't remember what they charge. I hope it's affordable to me because it's someplace I could live comfortably.

Will your daughter be living with you? If not (and if you can tolerate living with other people) you could rent a room, have roommates. If this interests you I see ads on Craigslist for these situations.

Well she lives with her dad but I'm working on getting visitation back, which is alternate weekends. Right now we're meeting for dinners and with the parental liaison, but my goal is to get back to seeing her one on one having time together to do things like see a movie, go swimming, go for a walk, etc. So I need to have my fun money. Kids are costly especially if you believe in experiences being important in life, which I do.

I have been thinking and I really think the best thing to do is pay off my credit cards with my tax return, or my mom, and save a couple more months. The reason for the credit cards is interest, mom's loan has been interest free. I'll have to really think though I tend to use credit when I have it and I really would rather just have them for emergencies or something.

Been reworking my budget found out the cost of the rental place I like. It's a 2 bedroom and it's a bit of a stretch but not too bad, I can do it. I decided to use half the tax return for the deposit and the other half for credit cards. I've always planned to have a credit card payment just won't have to kill myself paying it. Budgeting is a good way to help me think about my finances what I need to do, what I can do. Paying my mom off will really help me but that doesn't help my credit report, and I'm rebuilding my credit these days.

I'm preparing for a move myself. It's not until the end of April but I reserved a uhaul truck last night. Now I know how much that is going to cost me.
I'm glad that you found a place that you like!

Budgeting is so important. I have just recently created a real budget for myself and trying to stick to it. I'm also analyzing where I spend money and just using all the online banking tools my credit union offers. It's hard when you don't have a lot of money to see where you can save, but even when you have limited income, knowing where the money is going and what you can truly afford is so much more comforting than worrying about expenses when they come in!
