A couple weeks ago I had a T apt. I was told that bc I was on Medicare, I had to be put on matience therapy, where I would only see a T 3, or 4 times a week. I was introduced to my new T, and was scheduled for this last Wed. I was so upset I cried almost most of the way home. This Wed. I got ready for my apt with my new T, and left for my apt. My H called, and told me that my T was at the house, so I turned around, and went home. My new T, and I went into the house to talk. I told her as much as I could in the short time we had, and I told her that I have been on this site a lot, if she wanted to read what I have put on here, she may get a better idea about my life. The time I have been in regular therapy, before my T that I had for about 3 years moved, I had just started to understand my life, and why I am so passive, and do things on a instant, instead of thinking things out first. I didn't get the chance to learn how to deal with all that has happened in my life, and how to just handle things that happen in my every day life. I am now at a loss, and I have to figure these things out by my self. My new T did give me her cell # so I can call if I have any major problems, but I am a spontainous person, so I have a lot of anxiety about this. I am not the type of person to sit around and wait for a call when I am in a disturbing situation, instead I act, bc I don't know how to get through it. So for Medicare to do this to me has been very upsetting, and I am afraid. I know in my heart I need these skills so I won't do anything drastic.

How does Medicare decide you are stable. Isn't that the therapist call. Do you know what the criteria is for deciding such?

How often do you usually see your therapist?
3-4 times a week seems excessive!

I don't know the criteria, and I also thought it was for the Pdoc, and T to decide that, but I guess this is our wonderful government at work.

They changed me from 1 time every month, to 3 or 4 times a year, not week. So now I don't feel like I have much support from MH!

Yes, I am positive. My new T showed up at my home last Wed. And she confirmed it. This week I will try to call her, and find out more. This has been very depressing for me, and for one I hope she will call me back, and 2nd I hope she will be able to help me fix this.

Katydid, find out all you can and keep advocating for yourself. Stay strong...you can do this!

I'm sorry katydid. That doesn't seem like enough therapy.

If you're interested, there are free support groups available through the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance and the National Alliance for Mental Illness. I go to support groups and actually find them more helpful than therapy.

I am not able to talk about any of my home life, parental alcoholics, many, and all types of abuse through my life, in a group setting. I grew up in the time where you didn't speak of anything about any of these things. I am able to talk about some of my life on here bc no one rely knows me on here. It took me about 2&1/2 years to be able to start talking to the T I had 8 months ago. She had to move in Jan, and it took me until April to go back to get another T. I was given a trauma T, and this month I was changed. Thank You!!!

The new T that came to my home, talked with the MH in the county I live in, and let them know I wasn't ready to be on matience, and a new T called today to set up a apt, next week Wed. I will only have therapy once a month, bc of my ins. but I feel much better about things. Thank You to all who have sent me Hope, Hugs, and Prayers.
