They should be able to get the medicare disenrolled and with medicaid you might have to call the state or if you have a case manager they should be able to help get the medicaid reinstated. Good luck!!

Oh you dont understand, they said I would be duel enrolled Medicare and Medicaid, but that's not good because there are med copays with that too. Letter said the Medicare premiums were covered but I would be responsible for the rest.

I can't stand one thing Michigan changed reciently, I was getting a state supplement of 42 dollars every 3 months, but because I am married and for that reason only it was reduced by 11 dollars. Now my husband doesn't have an income, how is that fair when two people instead of one rely on that money. Back in 2012 they cut my husbands state disability as soon as we were married too... We have been fighting all this time to get him SSI too! He does have a hearing coming up but even then a married couple combined only gets 75 percent of what two single people would get!

Also DHS promised to help with home repairs and to hire an exterminator then changed its mind when it found out the place wasn't really ours and belonged to my uncle who we rent it from. They said my uncle would have to request the repairs, he refuses to. On top of that waitlists for income based housing are horribly long and so we can't get out of this horrible housing. We keep being refused help everywhere we turn.

If you have SSI you CAN NOT get Medicare.

Duel eligible is those on SSDI (medicare) and is depending on your states guidelines get Medicaid.
Also if you are duel - there are no copays at all

I been dealing with this SS/Medicare/Medicaid for almost 20 yrs - believe I do understand the programs =)

Okay, if there are no copays on duel then I was mistaken and wouldn't mind, but seriously I'm on SSI, social security when I went into there office tried to claim that since I had some work credits I was eligible for Medicare even just on SSI but I think the lady was misinformed that I talked to.

Are you talking about MI Health Link? I do not qualify, it is only in certain counties and mine is not one of them!

It says clearly if you live in one of those countiea your meds are covered but what if you don't? I litterally live 2 miles from one of the counties on that list! I even was considering moving to that county if I got a certain AmeriCorps position I applied to there... Seriously am I gonna have to change counties to get my meds covered?

And the plot thickens... I received in the mail today and actual Medicare card and a letter stating I was auto enrolled in a part D plan with Extra Help and my copays... But seriously why should I accept this when I had zero copays before?

And it's worse than I thought... Latuda is not covered by the part D plan they put me in. The price is very high and unpayable by me. Last time they tried to switch me from Latuda to something else I went into a deep depression and they had to switch me back. I was getting Latuda for free under Medicaid.

Apparently I qualify for Medicare because I got Social Security benefits as a child and listed as "disabled since childhood" even though I only get SSI benefits now. They and the state say if I refuse the Medicare I get no health coverage at all.

That was wrong... This explains it because another person from social security explained it: https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0425501365

One of my past jobs falled under this so I got enough credits to get Medicare but not SSDI... This sucks and I can't do anything about it.

I get meds I can't afford even though I have Part d coverage through patient assistance programs through the drug manufacture. I just enclose a note that while I don't meet all requirements I can't afford this drug which is a very effective med for me. I've done this with numerous drugs and never been denied and my income is higher than yours along with having Part D.

Just a bit of info here most USA states now allow people to have .........both..... Medicaid and medicare at the same time. what happens is which ever one is the primary insurance gets billed first then what they do not pay the other does. when I googled michigan they do have this type of program. its called MI Health Link. here is the information on how to get set up with them and what happens when you are all set up with both your medicaid and medicare at the same time....

Access Denied

my suggestion is if you want to keep your medicaid contact the MI Health Links number.

I actually found out I am in a qualitying area for a state program that covers meds if you are Medicaid/Medicare duel eligible... But the only reason that I wasn't notified was my old address was still in the state system. I made sure it was correct today and they said give it a few days for all the systems to catch up then I can switch plans.

Well I went into the pharmacy today and they tried to charge me for my BP meds... I walked out without them because currently I have negative 2 dollars in the bank and a 5 dollar bill that is to be used for gas to take my husband to the doctor tomorrow for a presurgery important appointment. I even reached out to relatives who don't want to help and my pdoc won't either. I run out of meds after Friday, what can I do? Someone like me trying to support two adults on SSI shouldn't have to be dealing with this...

I had a relative agree to buy them for me before I run out. In the meantime I'm still trying to get something to supplement my money... I'm waiting to hear back from two AmeriCorps positions I interviewed for and I have a third interview coming up soon, all three starting in September. Gives me some hope.
