Omg, honey, bless your heart! I hear you, I do. Do you work? You said you have earning potential. I can't work an 8 hour job, ft or pt. That is why my energy goes into developing my writing, plus, I love to write.
Yes, like that, with the link.

I do work full time with school vacations and snowdays off. I've been moved around internally over the years into better paying positions each time. I remain networked and keep my resume current. My employer pays for professional certifications etc so that too keeps padding my resume. And it allows me to remain true to a core value in parenting that I hold which is being here for them. Not that every day is a bed of roses but I'm following through on what I set out to do. I mean my kids are reaching teenage years in unison and here it is afternoon and I'm home with them.

I hope you can tap into your writing goals.

Default Re: I Live in Poverty. Do you?

I still have a lot of negative dialogue in my head from childhood bullies and an abusive ex of mine

You have done so well for yourself HappyCrafter

I work and have enough to pay my bills at the moment with a bit left over, but if I had more than that then I'd be wanting to share it with people here to help those less well off than me

I do donate regular to a couple of charities as well

I no longer live in poverty but I did for a while. I lost everything due to my mental health and wen to on SSDI, which, of course, wasn't enough to pay for everything. I admit that I probably did not have it as bad as others in poverty, but I have been there and I know what it's like.

Poverty is a systemic issue that is affected by so many variables, not just your job or lack thereof. I am interested to listen and contribute as I can in this thread.

I am sorry to hear about the negative dialogue. I have had abusive ex's too. It was painful, no question.

I am glad to hear that you work and share when you can! Good for you. I enjoy doing that too, when I can.

Nope, not a teacher although I am asked that irl more often than I ever imagined I could be. I work with the "nutrition" program as they now call it these days. It was a way into employment after not only divorcing and losing my mom to illness and a stint on unemployment after a daycare conflict but also it is municipal employment.
I interact with children of all ages pk-12. Ground up employment in this department for me. The undercurrent has been where I had obtained my bachelor's degree. It has one of those local region name drop types of curiosities.
